New Media Player

Milksama and I are putting in some efforts right now to do a high end, animated, Media Player skin. One that would work in either OS. However we were looking at is what theme should we start with? We boiled it down to three. We would really like anyone to toss in a vote or ideas for the player.

Idea 1: High end technology.
    Think common type skin. Lots of shine, glass, holograms, and glowy bits. Animations are quick and crazy with lots of flash to it.

Idea 2: Low post-apocalyptic war tech.
    If you are a Fallout fan you can remember the pip boy menus. Well we won't be doing it quite like that but it gives you an idea. Knobs that click in place, buttons you actually punch in, displays that are analog or the green on black text, and even reel to reel magnetic tape.

Idea 3: Steampunk
    Gears, steam ports, odd wires going this way and that, with measure of very odd might-be-high-technology-jury-rigged-into-place-with-duct tape look. Like anime and tank girl had some strange child here to amuse you.

The reason we ask is because due to the quality we are shooting for (hence the workload) we really want something that people are going to want to see and try out. Popular vote will dictate this one. If you have ideas please post away or PM me with them. Image links for reference are fun too. Plus if you just have questions let us know.

As an old school rock'n'roller #2 gets my vote. Would blend well with most of my Windowblinds,too.Eight-track tape option? Just kidding on that one ;)

I feel dirty about the first one . . but oh well.  ;)

I vote for idea one followed by two and lowest idea three.  Allow me to resize it and tuck it away.  Allow me to blend it into any desktop. One of my favorites has to be https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=10&libid=34. 




It's not flashy, but it could be  . . .  and have a less flashy mode.

Well if either 2 or 3 are voted it it won't be desktop friendly to everyone. To a majority but not for everyone for sure.

The minimize to a small player is important though, thanks for that.

Zubaz put up a great example....I like idea #1. The thing that makes a "Great" skin is usability. Another example would be ClearOne for Winamp...works with any overall "theme" and has all the necessary controls in your face.

#2 for sure. There are a million out there with high tech bells and whistles. Give me one that you might have to push the power button 3 or 4 times before it starts... :)

I think it really depends on you seabass and milksama.  Are you looking to make an art-piece meia player or a big user market media player.

#s 2 and 3 have a lot more to offer for an art-piece.  Take a look at some of the crazy-ass watches available:
