Those annoying surveys!!!

You may hate me for this but...

We've all seen them, so how about an online survey by Stardock of it's products and services? It seems like a good way to get honest, constructive, positive (I would hope) feedback. Things like accessability for people with disabilities, functionality, installation, sales, support, ease of use, reliability, overall satisfaction, etc. I would think that both long-time and new users like myself could provide some data that could be useful in  future product and service improvements. I'm generally happy here, but there is always room for improvement. Just a simple "star rating" or 1-10 would do,with a comments section to explain any "bad" scores.  No bitchin' or whining,I'm sure they already get enough of that. I can't post this at SDC(weird forum problem on my end)so if this is missplaced, and needs to be moved, I apologize. So, the first question is:Are surveys a waste of time? ;p

do we really want to put stardock in that category?
Actually I like the vote section they have... works just as well I guess.

We actually ran a few customer surveys very recently.

Wizard1956 I agree that the vote section serves this purpose some what and the bug threads in the the forums pretty much let the folks sound off what they thing about the programs and updates.

The other problem I think you would have with the survey, the folks that have problems would dominate it. Usually folks that have no problems just use and enjoy the programs. It makes it hard to come to any true picture of what people think. Just look at some of the recent vote questions that Zoomba has posted. Some didn't present the picture that most thought they would.

Just my opinion.  ;)

I think wizard and myself had two different views of surveys.
the thing I thought of when I read the post, was those spam surveys and survey websites that choke the web. That's why I answered in the manner I did.
A simple survey offered after a person purchases a product wouldn't probably be as distasteful though.

I vote sure, on a survey. We ought to survey WinCustomize.com and survey it's users on whether or not surveys are favorable or not.

Should we start by polling on whether surveys are ok or should we do a survey on whether or not to do a poll on surveys? Perhaps a poll to see whether or not poll surveys are acceptable?

Uh. What? ;p

Right on... but first I think they'd have to get a petition going to see if a survey could be initiated to find out if a poll on surveys would be acceptable or not.

Trouble with that could be that some people don't like putting their names to a petition, so it might be that they'd have to hold a referendum to establish if there's a general consensus as to whether a petition to see if a survey could be initiated to find out if a poll on surveys would be acceptable or not. ;)

Of course, we'd have to start with a beta version ;p

Or an Alpha version to see if the beta referendum would fly. ;p

but we would need to take survey to find out what should be included in the alpha version

Ah, but a poll would be necessary to determine if a survey was warranted on what should be included in the alpha version of the referendum to discover the consensus on whether or not a poll should be conducted to see if a survey should be done to ascertain if a poll should be conducted as to whether a petition should be instigated on the benefits of a poll regarding a Stardock survey asking patrons/customers if they want a poll which would thus bring about a survey as suggested by the OP. ;p

lol sounds like starkers has been in politics for a while.
that's usually how it goes, and why it takes years to get a bill of any importance passed. too bad it doesn't work that way for those silly bills,...like raises for politicians

Yup, I came by the eloquence via the dictionary/thesaurus and through listening to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II... then I turned it into complete nonsense.

Nope! Wouldn't tar myself with that brush... but I've heard enough bullshit from them over the years to mimic the style.... confound even myself with their brand of over elaborate rhetorical replies to everything. ;p
