Solar Sector

A familiar niche in the stars?

Sins of a Solar Empire takes place in a galaxy far away...but haven't you ever wanted to battle it out in a place that is a bit more familiar?

Presenting: Solar Sector, a map that is centered around the Solar System and its major neighboring stars.

Here is the filefront link.

-Up to eight players can play!
-The location of the stars (while scaled down in distance) is accurate in relative location (except for that unchangeable Z axis!)
-The spectrum of the stars is relatively accurate as well!
-The game is set up so that players are set into paired systems (ie Sun and Proxima Centauri, Lalande 21185 and Wolf 359, etc) that have shorter travel distances for a quick engagement. Attacking star systems further away is more of a challenge, however, as jump times will take longer.
-All starting systems are *relatively* balanced with similar planet composition. Each starting system only has 6 planets as to keep the game scale large but manageable.

I hope you enjoy the map!

I forgot the install instructions:

Simply place it in C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy
and viola! Playable map. It should be listed under the "Large" map section.

Wow, nice skin!

Yeah, the Sins planet selection really limits how you can mimic the solar system. I wish that they would have skins selectable in Galaxy Forge for each planet type.

How does one travel to other systems, have sent scouts into the sun but not going thru. Am I missing something? research or?

You have to research interstellar travel. All you have to do after that is move your scout to the nearest star and then jump there.

If you haven't scouted out the nearest star, then your ship sometimes won't jump to another star until you have manually scouted the nearby one.
