Shakes head, held low, walks off wondering WTF...over.

Would I wear it?  No.  To me it's dwelling on something bad that happened to me and everytime I saw that shirt in my drawer, the wash or while putting it on, it would force me to relive some very hard and horrible moments in my life.

I was almost raped (or worse killed) once and I cannot even imagine putting on a t-shirt advertising that fact.  I hate that I have to even remember that time enough as it is.  It's not something to advertise. 

I mean, who wants to dwell on the worst time of your life when there are too many good memories to think upon?    What purpose does this really serve other than to make others feel sorry for you?  Regardless of the intent of the tee-shirt, this would inevitably be the result of wearing such a shirt. 

And I definitely don't want people to feel sorry for me so again, I'd have to say no thanks.

As Ben stated above, some people are defined by their problems...heh.

I wouldn't give anyone attention who wore this shirt because I'd feel like they won.  They wanted something (attention) and went about getting it in a distasteful way.  So I'd probably ignore them, not give them sympathy or anything else.

Well I would wonder if the person who wore this shirt really did get raped? Because for the life of me I can't imagine one who was so violently attacked would be drawing attention to it knowing exactly how bad it was to go thru such an attack. It's not something you want to relive.

I fought off my attacker and got away. I didn't go thru it as bad as others yet I still felt violated and would not be drawing attention to it. It would be creepy for me to wear a t-shirt in commemoration of the day. Isn't that why you buy special t-shirts and hats to remember the day? It's not a day I'd want to remember.

According to the articles I've read, its for "every" woman, not just rape victims. 

This kind of reminds me of the "HIV+" T-shirts I saw at Pride Festivals I've done medic support for. I thought those were grotesque too.

oh so you can wear a shirt that says "I was raped" but not really have been raped?

Hmmmmmmm...maybe the back of the shirt should say......"Don't believe me because I lie."

Soooo if you didn't have an abortion, would you really wear a shirt that says "I had an abortion?"

I mean that could be dangerous nowadays. Being self labeled as a baby killer is not really a cool idea.

What pro-lifer would wear such a shirt? As far as a pro-abort, I can't imagine they would want to admit this either. I haven't heard too many women boasting about this lately have you? It's one thing to advocate for abortion, it's quite another to brag about it without sounding pretty cold and calculating.

That was my understanding, but others apparently think only rape victims are going to wear it. Still, from the very few I know that were raped, and by your own account, it seems that the last people that would wear them would be those who know about it first hand.

Well she got some "famous" person to wear the abortion one...to help draw attention to the issue...I think the issue gets enough attention now.

Maybe it was to scare off potential mates? hahaha

 

Yeah I agree.  Like the rape isn't bad enough?  A woman is going to open up an emotional wound in public where anyone can prod and push at it?

I can't see too many non militiant feminists wearing it.

You know, in two months or so, I will see a guy wearing one of these shirts. And I will be scarred for life.

Can you imagine how DIFFERENT the responses to a man would be?

Oh, I'd imagine people wouldn't be as sensitive to him as they would a woman.

In fact, in my mind's eye I see lots of pointing and snickering and a very dejected man wearing that shirt.
