Game won't start after "Play the Game"

I successfully installed the game and the patch.  Game loads up and title menu comes up.  Click on "Play the Game" and menu disappears and nothing further happens.  Show no activity on CPU or application monitors.

My laptop plays well with Supreme Commander, so I wouldn't think it would be a hardware compatibility problem, but you never know.  Here is my system specs:

Dell Latitude D810;  Pentium 1.86 GHz;  1 GB RAM;  ATI Mobility Radeon X600 128MB ; Windows XP SP2

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try launching the executable directly, not the launcher, see if that works ;)

I was having an issue like this the first time I installed the game. It would just go away and then windows would come up with a message "This program has stopped working, closing it now." or close to that. I think it might have been because I turned off the movies in the begining, but I haven't wanted to test it.

A re-install got it working again, its worked ever since.

I have already reinstalled the game. Tried using the executable directly, but nothing even happens. The launcher at least brings up the title menu.

Hmm, that is weird. I do seem to remember that the intro movie caused problems for some people (like Norrec mentioned), so it might be worth a try. You have a user.setting file in Docs and Settings, \Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting and there's a line there to turn off the intro movie.

Failing that, you can email [email protected] and they should be able to help you out more.

same problem here, I have tried reinstalling and also launching the executable but it does nothing. I check the system manager and it says its running with 24mb of memory but does nothing. i will try another fresh install after i install SP1 but i have little faith.

Vista Ultimate on a MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM.
It was running for the first few weeks with no problems then one day would not launch.

I solved my issue. I had to reinstall the nvidia drivers for vista, it was as simple as that. It would not work because it was using a generic vista adapter drive, i installed the nvidia and everything is good.
