Hey, can I have your stereo?

You're officially invited and welcome to join the Tyranny of Evil. You might find this to be a more lucrative venue for your endeavors.

We also have a private forum, full of advanced strategy tips that you might find interesting. :)

Are you saying this in-character? Because we're only taunting your empire. Not you. Your in-character empire. It's a game.

It's roleplay.

Well, if you are EVIL Geckos that may be a little different. If you truly are evil maybe you should join the Tyranny of Evil. And do not let the taunts get you down, they are done in fun and in the spirit of the game. If you have visited the ToE forums you will see that we make fun of our own fellow members. But if you are leaving because you are in fear of the Rosie clones than I do not blame you (you were warned after all).  ;)

Yes, yes...That's all good and well. Now, how about that stereo?  :HOT:

What did you do? Be a dictator, that's what.

Hahaha are you actually upset cause some people on here made fun of a fictional lizard? I and many others in the Tyranny have said far worse things about Kzinti and his little hair balls and he just retorts with a smart comment and we move on.
 :P

It's all in fun and if you cant understand that, or handle it, then perhaps you should refrain from saying things yourself.

Now im off to enjoy some fried gecko and a bottle of Kzin Blood!!!

Grow up.

Why is a penguin talking about geckos? Do penguins eat geckos, and if so are you in need of geckos?

Regardless though, I know what wouldn't hesitate to eat a gecko as well as your entire family if given a chance... WOLVERINES!

Dude, chill.

You've been quite vocal (in character) about your empire, the MV and galactic politics. It's only natural you get some taunting. ;)

My nickname was choesen by me back when i joined the Lego club which was the first online club i joined online. This was when i was 11, back when i liked penguins and i'm 13 now so that was around two years ago, but then i realized that penguins are gay! I decided that any online thing i joined it would be my nickname. Actally it was sethpenguin20 on Lego.com and Deviant art. Sethpenguin is the name i chose when i became a member here! I like sethpenguin better than sethpenguin20.

I have to admit, i did get carried away but honestly though you guys really don't know what Geckos are really like, they are very nasty epsecialy Tokay geckos, i know, i used to have one and it had bit me , hissed at me and made loud anoying mating calls. We got rid of it. I still like geckos.

Didn't know you were that young. ;)

In that case, you're excused and please take all comments posted as 'from empire to empire' strictly as humorous without any foul intent. Although I guess in some cases a smiley wouldn't hurt either.

Also, and this is a pet peeve of mine, please refrain from using the adjective 'gay' equivocally to 'bad'. I have a couple of friends back from highschool that are gay, so while I'm not directly targeted, I still take some offence at this. ;)

Actually, funny story, back in '99 when I started serious e-gaming, this usage was on the rise. We had a few members in our clan that took real offence at this and basically reversed the whole trend. Even then, having an age average of 27+ in a Counterstrike clan gave us the advantage of remaining blissfully above most online insults and we had a lot of fun turning the whole 'gay' thing into our trademark, although all of us were straight, married and in some cases with children. ;)

Same here. While I'm straight, some of my friends aren't. They can generally let it slide off their backs, but it gets annoying to those of us who are in association with them.

So...back to the stereo. Is it up for grabs or not?

We have member in the ToE who is proud to be gay and doesn't seem to take offense (maybe because he is confident in himself and not ashamed of it). That and the fact that there are worse words for it. Then there are others in the ToE who may lean in that direction but will not admit it. If you go to the ToE forums just look for the guys with muppets for Avatars (yes I'm talking about you Piznit!)

I've also had alot of "non-straight" friends. Mostly girls though because everyone knows lesbians are Cooler.

"And we are out of here"

Friend, many more posts like your first and the great devs of the sky are likely to enforce it the hard way. One thing that has been noted is that the mods and devs here do not like seeing posts of that nature in these forums regardless of their intention. Please take this as a friendly warning only. But in all seriousness you really need to reel it in a bit..

pndrev - calculator may be out but iPod should be up for grabs

I seriously doubt that anyone was offended by you. It might help your own sense of belonging to seperate yourself from the character you're portraying though. They really have little to do with each other. You're not really a lizard and I may or may not actually be a demon.  ;)

Being a gaming forum, we like to poke fun at each other and equally enjoy it when someone gets in a good zinger on us. There are limits, though and just remembering that you aren't really the avatar that you portray can help you see where those limits are drawn.

Please continue to post and enjoy the game.

And above all, BE EVIL!  :HOT:

As Motti said, I dont think anyone was offended Seth. Everything was said in fun, roleplaying, good-natured taunting, etc. The forums have certainly livened up a bit lately with all the new empires, people, and both "galactic councils". ;)

i would be that out-and-proud gay member of the ToE. i don't personally take offense to using the word 'gay' to signify something kinda lame. language is all about context. historically, 'gay' simply means happy (for example, The Flintstones theme song concludes "we'll have a gay old time" - though that might be before your time, sethpenguin).

words change over time, c'est la vie. i personally think the important thing to attend to is intention and effect. i rarely think someone using 'gay' to connote that something is undesirable intends a homophobic meaning, though often enough the usage is rooted in a deeper cultural homophobia. moreover, communication online is very tricky. 90% of communication is non-literal; in other words, a great deal of a person's meaning is communicated and understood outside of the actual words. inflection, social context and setting, posture, facial expression: far more of our brains are devoted to analyzing these facets of communication than actually parsing the meaning of words. therefore, online chatting, where those parts of communication are unavailable, can be a much trickier venture. i personally err on the side of cautious language, but that's my choice and style. ultimately i think, to quote Charlotte Bronte, "Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity, or registering wrongs."

cheers,
nik

Did anyone manage to score that stereo, pocket calculator or iPod yet? If not, I claim dibs.
