The Ultimate Combo mod - featured in PC GAMER

Welcome to the 7 DEADLY SINS mod, as featured in PC GAMER by DANMAN .

Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.
7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.

7 Deadly Sins is:

The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community.
The work of many individual modders working together under my leadership (DANMAN3712).
Nearly 4 years old and downloaded in various forms over 100k times worldwide and in 5 languages.

Together, we form the 7DS Mod Team and the backbone of DANMAN GAMES www.danmangames.com

7 Deadly Sins is the combination of original 7DS Team content and other mods including:

Capitalships -capital armor
Dreadnought -capital armor, incredible firepower and durability
Titan -capital armor like Dreadnoughts, possess doomsday weapons

Imperial Executor SSD Shield Overload
Atlantian Avatar Stellar Converter (beam with damage to all in path)
Triad of Creation -Lapis Blackhole Generator and Spatial Compressor Wormhole Weapon

New Special Abilities
Rogue "Assault Pods", The Machine "Assimilation" for capturing capitalships, TCA armor plating unlocked by research for greater tanking, TOU "Oppression Aura" that reduces enemy firepower, Arilou Obliterator "Ion Cannon" disabling Starbases, Arilou "Mxyzptlk Array" with time disrupting "Quasi-Bomb", Triad of Creation "Nosferatu" and "Ghoul" energy siphons that do damage, and More!

New classes of strikecraft squadrons and Capitalships/Dreadnoughts/Titans with fixed number of Squadrons
Cruiser Squads of 3 strikecraft
Capital Squadrons of 6 strikecraft; largely used by Hangars
Titan Wings of 9 strikecraft; also used by Starbases

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.

12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.

Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might
Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection.
TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.
Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order
Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.

TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan.
The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine
Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan.
Ship research boosts weapon performance.

DARK FLEET- modified Vasari
The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey.
Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.

Imperial Armada- from Star Wars
Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.
Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.

Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates
Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery.
Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships

Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games
Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.

Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games
Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.

Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games
Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.

Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods)
The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.

Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games
As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.

Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers
The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

Hey guys, I'm loving this mod (at least for the 4 times I actually managed to start in 50+ startups omfg.), specially the atlantians > lazors ftw. I'm obviously running windows 7 64bit + entrenchment 1.051.

I have a question: If I make my system into a dual boot (i.e. install windows vista or xp as well), will this fix the crashes for this mod?

Well, it is always a Beta, so it is possible that some crash happen due to bug no yet found and/or corrected...

But a dual boot ( best with XP ) can only help... it will remove the specific problem with Win7 x64 and since XP is on the lower end related to resource use ( processor ) and memory use, it can only be beneficial for the game+mod. Since Win7 is your main OS, don't need to install a lot of thing with XP... by example, if you don't play online, don't install/enable a firewall, anti-virus, microsoft chat program, windows update ( first update and dissable it after ), etc...

Well, my post has more to do with this message for the mod (Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit.  You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning.  Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play.  This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.) and whether or not a different OS next to my win7 64bit will enable me to play this mod without having to restart my game 10 times because it minidumps on a game load. I can play other mods without problems (a part from the occasional minidump in late game stadia in 4v4/5v5) except for 7DS and unfortunately this is my favourite mod :P.

Will the version for diplomacy work better for Windows 7?

The minidump is probably due to the broken city world entry on the galaxyscenariodef file. Basically, any time you load a map with a city world (or a random map that picks one), you WILL get a minidump 100% of the time.  I guess it only happens on Windows 7 64 bit systems but is in fact due to the bad entry in galaxyscenariodef.  After using the fixed version, I haven't had another minidump...and I'm on windows 7 64 bit.   If you have Win 7 64 bit on a lower-end system you may also get minidumps on the initial entrenchment loading.  Oddly enough, I even got them half the time on my gaming laptop.  But after I applied the fixed galaxyscenariodef file I haven't got them since.

Here's the fix from the danman games forum, re-uploaded by me: (removed by a...request...wow lol)

The fix you want is here (you'll have to register first in order to see the thread): http://danmangames.com/forums/index.php?topic=3024.msg23593#msg23593

Just drop it into your "users\yourusernamehere\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Entrenchment v1.051\SOASE_7DS_2.5_BETA_3\GameInfo" folder (OVERWRITE the old file) and you should be good to go.  It's not an official fix but does indeed work just fine and eliminates the minidump from a very known bug.

For more info, I recommend you register on http://forums.danmangames.com/.  The bug thread for beta 3 cannot be seen until you register on that forum.  Once you are registered, go onto the 7DS thread and then it's child "Bugs report" thread.  Several fixes are currently being worked on.  The most current thread for bug reporting is "Official Beta 3 Bug Reporting".

Thanks a lot, will try it asap. Hmm perhaps I should have read their forum first, but after reading 3/4 of this topic, I got discouraged.

I really do appreciate the effort to find this, but the download link appears to not be working.  Would you please try to put it somewhere else?

Edit: The original file is located in the Official Beta 3 Bug Reporting Thread.  It is an attachment of the 4th reply.

I appreciate it. Thanks!

Great mod, I can hardly play it though, I've been looking all over this thread and still can't find out why it crashes and mini-dumps so much, I've only had like 2 working T.C.A. games since I downloaded this mod, even with the patch a the fixes i've tried.

I've thought of fiddling with my settings, any suggestions?

Right now I'm running on high with all settings do I need to lower them? Or is this a different problem entirely?

You need to lower your graphics as that will at the very least help with the stability of the mod.

Can someone give me a proper link for the 2.5? i have no clue where to download it even on the website.

Sadly even after lowering it to lowest quality for planets ships, etc. I still get a crash 90% of the time, are there other settings that should be turned off? or is it certain maps the mod can't handle, like random small maps I get the most crashes. especially at the beginning when I start building my first ships

Try to play Atlantian Empire and TCA. Those are races that work for me. And no more than 4-5 players. Ant size of map will do. Set races for AIs as well.

Yeah TCA is the one I've been able to play full game without crashing regardless of my settings, everyone else crashes, haven't tried atlantian yet.

Anyone interested to get a MP game going on?

Not to question the ability, integrity or intentions of anyone, but please download the mod and fixes only from Danman Games Site.  On the forums, you can contribute information that will help us get Beta 5 out (Dan's working Beta 4 now).  As for fixes posted on forums, trust what Dan, Scratch, Makon, or I post or you may get something unexpected that turns you computer into a gnarly jellyfish with haxor beams.

There is a Bug Report thread for Beta 3 currently where issues are posted and progress discussed.  No one on the development team posts files, fixes or mirrors downloads outside the locations provided.  Assume any 'fix' or 'mirror' outside what we've established isn't and dangerous.  Also, It's downright rude imho if anyone downloads a Beta and puts a mirror somewhere else -we've got no control over that, but to discourage anyone from downloading it on common sense alone.

For all things 7DS, once you get the Beta, may as well us our forums to discuss the Beta.

As dev, I'm on Beta 3c which contains just the fixes I've worked on, not anyone else's work, and have had no stability issues -all in Beta 3c was sent to Danman for inclusion with Beta 4 -still in progress- while other devs have done the same in their areas of specialization so Beta 4 will be a significant improvement over Beta 3 just as Beta 3 was over 2 and 2 over Beta 1.

Thanks to all on forums playtesting and helping us improve the mod.  B)

Known Issue: Taalo as AI cause minidump

Cause is unknown.  Taalo are playable, just don't use random race option because Taalo could be one and dump the game despite all other fixes posted by developers including fix to galaxyscenariodef for urban, roletype change for taalo scout and colony, and others.

which version?

This is for Entrenchment 1.051 ONLY.  It will not work with Diplomacy or Original Sins.
