Demand but not enough supply

Where are the e-book readers?

Amazon came out with their Kindle e-book reading device several months ago. The price is $399 and they can't keep up with the demand. There's a waiting list to purchase them! So why aren't other companies coming out with comparable readers?

The Kindle has features that I don't need. I don't need the wireless access or even a keyboard for that matter. I just want to be able to read articles and e-books without having to sit in front of a computer. It's not that big of deal to hook up a cable to download the files.

So why isn't the industry meeting the demand?

Oh...they'll eventually meet demand and hit that sweet equilibrium price.  There's just always a lag between demand and supply.  Demand changes pretty fast...supply takes awhile to adjust.  More sellers can enter the market, prices will change, yadda yadda yadda...

Although, for a supplier a huge demand is a Godsend, so maybe they're intentionally creating a shortage to keep it up there.

*sigh*...I just took an econ exam this morning.
