We have failed to have a stand alone public version available for a variety of reasons, primarily, the difficulty in dealing with so many different hardware configurations on Vista.
We have DeskScapes 2.0 beta on Object Desktop. ODNT users are more used to dealing with beta software and are giving us feedback which we're working through. If someone wants it bad enough, get Object Desktop.
Otherwise, you'll have to wait until the public beta which, we hope, will be in the next couple of weeks.
That's why it's called a "preview".
There are more than enough great "free" dreams in the gallery.
Stardock is supplying the ability to run dreams and a place for you to get 500 megs worth of additional dreams, downloadable from the gallery, at no cost to you.
I don't understand...what do you have to complain about?
If it were me, I would thank Stardock for the free preview and move on.
Is anyone aware that vistadreams.org is charging to gain access to stardock premium dreams & dreams that are free here?
It is true that they have dreams that are free here, but they also have some dreams you can't find anywhere else. As for having my premium dreams, I have an arrangement with them that allows them to offer them there.
It seems there is a conflict between them, and since then I cant run Utopia Prime, and Desktop Earth runs but you cant see any of the icons of the desktop (like the recycle Bin, for example.
I hope this is resolved when v. 2.00 comes out soon.
I tried to download another dream but the following Windows notice apeared: "DreamSceane cannot execute when you select Windows Aero schema" it is my translation from spanish to eanglish.
What is Windows Aero, and how can I change it? Please help.
Thank you for clearing that up for me. We are not aiming to rip anyone off here!
I take it you're from the site in question? Even if you have an agreement with MasterBaron, taking the dreams from other dream authors without their permission, and then CHARGING access for what is freely available here is still ripping and morally w.r.o.n.g.
I can only speak for myself, but they did ask my permission. Which dreams are you referring to?
Rehosting works downloaded from elsewhere without consent, whatever the item might be is a breach of Artists' inherent copyright. ALL require specific consent and unless otherwise stated [individually] ALL require artists' names to be included.
There IS no alternative option...;)
Remember the 2 'C's.....

- It allows folks that have been patiently waiting to have something to play with
- It allows Stardock to expose it to more desktops (but still a subset of EVERYONE) and illuminate issues that need to be fixed before full launch.
It's not a great answer nor is it an official answer . . but I thinks it's an accurate answer.
