Three questions

I love the game and am already addicted heh.

I just have three questions:

1). Why use Fleets when you can just assign groups with ctrl-#? (Is it just so that they appear at the top of the empire list?)

2). Does anyone else notice certain hotkeys not working? ALT-U for example, to quick select planets that need upgrades.

3). Is there an easy way to see how many research stations you have of each type *total* without heading to the research window and seeing with tiers you *cannot* yet research?

Does anyone even use fleets? Is anyone out there? Heh, my post got lost in a sea of others.

I do use fleets, yes. I use them just to get the flagship title next to the lead capital ship's name. :p

On a more serious note, I do it mainly to specify how close ships should be to each other and to control if they jump together or not. This helps keep those abilities many ships have working on the maximum number of ships at the same time. I also like it for if I happen to send in reinforcements and aren't keeping track of things. Those reinforcements automatically join the fleet then and follow it around...normally.

There used to be a research station counter in the research window during the beta (don't remember which beta it was started in), but I can't find it since the game was released. Maybe they forgot to add it into the research screen.

For anyone who would like to know, I found the answer to my third question.

When you look at the research screen, you will notice that the *background* in each field of research is either solid or "scan lined". The solid area indicates what level of research you have for that type (at a glance).
