German/European Questions

http://www.soase.de

Dear Sins Developer,

I have some Questions about the localisation/translation of Sins and future of the the “Europen” Patches. I am German, and Currently our Community have Completed the Translation about “80%”. When our “Mod-Translation is Released” will you implement it in your Game? So that we Germans who have installed the mod still can play with others who don’t have the Mod? An if there is a Puplisher found in German/England/etc… () will we need to bye a Complete new Game or will we be able to download a Langauge Patch?

P.S. My English is damm bad I know…….

P.S.S.  I hope a Puplisher will be found soon.

Thanks for answering.

Perhaps better would be a request to the devs for future patches... an option to have multiple .str file in the vanilla directories and tell the system which one to use and not trigger the checksum functions. Since only strings are affected, no balance issues should be possible.

I know a spanish localization is already done, now German, would be nice to still allow those players to play together online, each in their own preferred language.

BTW, Ben-Mirro, your English is fine. Better than my Deutch for sure :P

End of quote

No, we cannot do that due to the potential legal and support issues involved.

I haven't checked myself, but I wouldn't expect the string files to be included in the sync checksums, since they don't contain any gameplay-altering data, and since that would make localizations incompatible. Unless you guys have already tried it and seen that it does desync, you should be able to play with a modified string file.

Thanks for answering,

I hope so that the string (Langauge Files) will not be implemented in the Check Routine. As for the Question about the the German version (if a Publisher is found), I think would be best for those who have bought the game to get a DL link for their preferred langauge.

Thank your for your fast Support.

Hi Ben-Mirro (do i know you?).

We (team of soase.de) have actually finished to translate all text files and will soon start beta testing them (for spelling errors etc.). In around one week a release can be expected.

We also found a way to make it possible that u can switch between str files any time through the mod feature (u can simply pick the german or english version).

Also afaik the str shouldnt effect online gaming.
