Guitar great Jeff Healy, 41, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, something he had battled all his life and which claimed his eyesight at age one. Healy is survived by his wife and two children, a son and daughter.... condolences to them at this difficult time.

As soon as I heard I created a station on Pandora.

For those in the States, you can hear music similar to "See the Light" here.

Good thoughts going out to his family.

It's a shame...all the great blues players just seem to go at an early age. (:(

He was a damn fine trumpeter as well. A friend of a friend Tara Hazleton sang with his jazz band in Toronto the last few years. http://www.amazon.ca/Sound-Jazz-Various-Artists-Collections/dp/B000GET0CY

All around nice guy too. Met him about 18 years ago after playing a concert at college. You could see how exhausted he was but, took the time to meet, talk and sign autographs. Very genuine.

Very sad day and I think his jazz career would've out shined his blues.

 (:(

It's been that kind of week.

Last week, the former drummer for Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsys, the voice of the California Raisins and probably my biggest influence to play classic rock drums, the great Buddy Miles also past away 5 days ago of congestive heart failure at age 60!

Damn, then Jeff Healy too. I remember that dude kickin' ass in the movie Road House.

We all gotta go sometime but damn, it should be a lot later than 41. Going to pull out some of his songs and light the candle. For him its on to better things in a better place.

Jeff was a truly great electric jazz-man. I own 6 or 8 of his albums and play regularly and hove done so since seeing Roadhouse in the theaters. I am very sadden by this news.

And I hadn't heard about Buddy Miles either. Another great loss to the world of music.

Sad news  (:(

Jeff was a phenomenal guitar player; he put so much feeling into his music. And Buddy was one of the greats. I still love his music as much as I did when I first heard him.

Jeff Healy was a fine talent, too be sure... could also play piano and other instruments. :HOT:

Being in Oz (don't think he ever toured here), I never had the good fortune to see Jeff play live, but I have several of his CD's and will collect those of his I still do not have.

Now I'm gonna crank up 'Angel Eyes' (and several other Healy classics) in tribute to a truly gifted musician....long live (the memory and music of) Jeff Healy. :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :SNIFF!:
