little help plz

i'm sry if this is a known bug but this error has been annoying the crap out of me. i have had galciv2 dark avatar for almost a week now and it is realy gd while it works. However while i am playing either in a normal game or on the campaign it will jst freeze when i click to finish my turn. There does not seem to be any pattern it can happen on my 5th turn or my 105th turn. However the freeze is not total as i can still move the mouse around and i can Alt+F4 out of the game.

I run the game on Vista and have a Nvidea GeForce Go 7950GTX. I also run it on a laptop it that makes a difference. I'm nt sure if the drivers are up to date or not, on the DxDiag it says i have driver version 7.15.0010.9809(English).

Any halp you guys could give me would be gr8, however i am nt all that great with technical computer stuff so plz try and keep it relativly simple. If it is a case of outdated drivers can someone please tell me where i can get more up to date ones.

This isn't a driver issue. (at least imo)

Upgrading GC2 my help, but in general you can often hit tab, and if it then selects a ship, (even a ship that should be autopiloting, or out of moves), just try moving the ship manually.

You may have to do that a few times, and then the game will usually wake up and complete the turn.

It can happen where it's just outright frozen too. In which can you need to go to your last save / autosave.

thx for the advice, but i tried it and it didn't work. I loaded up one of the games that i knew froze when i hit next turn, tried tht tab thing nd it didn't work, as far as re-loading goes tht does nt wrk cuz it jst freezes at the same place again. I jst started a new match as well got a couple of years into it and it froze, rly pissed me off, waz doin gr8.

I dont know how you bought it, but might be worthwhile checking against Stardock Central that you have the last version. There have been a few annoying turn freeze issues, most seem to be ironed out now.

If you have the latest version, send a saved game that has the hassle to stardock support, together with the SmartException files and they can look at it. The support guys at Stardock are good, and always do their level best to get you going. Worth sending it all in if your still having hassles after verifying you have the latest game version. There are times with freeze bugs that SmartException doesnt pick up the 'crash', if thats the case with you, just forward the saved game, telling them SmartException didnt kick in.

i had a look and i got version 1.80e for dark avatar. version 1.5 for galciv2 without the expansion. i cannot update either via stardock central so i assume that i have the latest versions.

now is the part were i sound lyk a fool, wot iz a SmartException file and how do i send a saved game?

Turn 'hardware mouse cursor' ON, in the game, and see if that helps.

tht seems to hav wrked, thx a lot Mistralok

however a new problem has become apparent, sometimes during planetary invasions i click attack and the game freezes but i can still hear the battle going on, but when the battle is over i can't do anything

any suggestions?

mabye not it wkred for a match but thn they jst started freezing again, this iz gettin rly annoying, its completely ruining the game for me
