i didn't have much room for either a hand or a party hat, so i left the emotion of congrats to the overly cheesy wink to express. i was toying with the idea of a 24 x 24 that was just the hand so you could give a thumbs up without a smiley, or put it to the side of any of them, like the typical wink + thumbs up, or allow stuff like the sarcastic drunk/tired one giving a thumbs up. mostly i was working under pressure of time, and while i thought i made a good choice in making them bigger so i could put more detail into the expressions, i was a little short sighted on the effect it would have as for putting something like a hand or hat in there too. if i could break the width barrier like cerbro did, that would fix it too. other than that, i was pressed for time and dying for sleep, always more time later~

i think that line of thought occurs and is said in basically every competition or contest, but it just isn't very practical. this isn't just a contest for a prize though, it's supposed to be geared in being helpful to our site as a whole, so it's not going to hurt my feelings if something else is better suited for the task. mixing sets would probably just lose the unity and cohesion you all were looking for in the first place by having an entire matching set.

i didn't enter with the presumption i was going to win, and knew that mine may not be used, but that really wasn't the point or motivation in making them, you don't need to put something to use in order to appreciate it. i was just having a bit of fun, and a few people said they liked mine after i finished playing; that's all i needed to hear to justify my time spent~

but from an application standpoint or in terms of it going to use, if mine didn't go to use here, that's not to say they wouldn't go to use somewhere else, that they need to go to use at all, or that myself or the rest of us would have wasted our time making them in the least.

the very last thing i would want is for mine to be added in out of some form of pity, or for the cohesion to be lost and our smileys end up just a big "mix and match" like deviantart~ so i guess the only thing to say is the same you say in every contest...

Yeah... i made mine with the intent of using them elsewhere if they weren't used here. I probably would have hosted them somewhere else and used them anyways.

There's great expression on yours though horizon, they're very well done.

I agree 100% with horizon, a mixed set would in the end just look horrible. Also, if mine are not chosen then they will be easily accessible to others for use elsewhere after the contest (maybe downloadable from the smiley gallery here)

I don't think any entry should feel bad about 'not' being chosen, all are great and nothing like this is ever a waste.

I don't care who wins. I think all of them are great and I want access to all the sets here!

Although everyone did an absolutely excellent job in the smilies...and I really mean that!...it is very hard to choose just one set....but I like SK's the best. Actually...I really like a lot of the ones Chet & Steph did too! And now Horizon added some nice ones too! Damn...Can we merge them?....just a thought!

I had that same thought because they all look pretty good. But in the long run as you're reading through the forums, with everyone using different sets, wouldn't that be the same as mixing them all in together to begin with?

Not really, i suppose if they all have the same number of equivalent smilies and all the same aliases (:congrats:, ^_^, etc) it could work out so that the user sees only the set they've selected.

Ah true. I was just thinking of each user choosing which set they wanted to use themselves. Didn't think far enough ahead to think of it being an option of what you see on the forums not just what you use.

Damn canmandeco! Another great set! I'd hate to have to decide which set is going to be used...which is why it would be great of we could choose a set to use rather than just one...all of them are great!

Oh.....and I haven't seen any thumbs down smilies!
