I agree, keeping up with the continuous improvements can be difficult. I, however, like them; they are clear evidence of the tremendous support Brad and Stardock are giving to this game. Remember, unlike most other development houses, GalCiv isn't even their main product line!

My advice (and what I now do) is to update only periodically. Complete the current game you are playing, at whatever level and version, and post it to the MV. Then, check SDC and see what new changes Brad and the dev's have implemented. Install those, and play a new one to completion!

At the very least (unlike me) you'll actually get some finished games posted to your credit :)

STOP UPDATES, is indeed one of the most weird requests buyers/players can ask the devs. Luckily Brad CS (or Brad & Co as you Americans say) are now totally convinced 99,98 % of the buyers are not only completely satisfied with the game but admit as well they have never ever seen such devotian in after sales/support. Even in the latest reviews (for whatever a review is worth) it seems the greatness of the AI as well as the support shows off. As it should, I would say, this is the BEST EVER 4X game up to date! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:

Do some parts of some of the updates 'suck'?
Well, yes.
But I'd rather have 400 updates, each with some bits I don't like and some bits I do than 1 update and never anything more!

Example:
Restricting the cumulative bonus obtained from multiple starbases in a single sector meant there was less point in me building 6 starbases in my 'main' sector, to the exclusion of building any anywhere else, except for culture whackers. :)
But on the other side of it, it encouraged me to build starbases in a more evenly distributed manner. It may not be quite as "uber" as a bunch of starbases in one sector, but it has other advantages like spreading out the +1 defense module over many times more ships than I have in any one sector. Not to mention the advantages of setting up trade routes specifically to take advantage of a line of colonised sectors, each with starbases pumping the income... And so on.

Just look at the changes made in each patch. If you think you really CAN'T live without something in the current update, don't update yet. Wait until something is introduced that you decide would be a really good addition to your current pet strategy. :)
If you think something shouldn't've been changed, come up with some good arguments for why it was better the way it was. The developers are here, they do listen and changes can (and have) been made based on player feedback.
That kind of system is worth the minor hassle of a 1 or 2mb update every day or so, in my opinion. :)

"If you think you really CAN'T live without something in the current update, don't update yet."

That should read, "If you think you really CAN'T live without something *changed/removed* in the current update, don't update yet."

*cougheditbuttoncough* :)

I stopped getting updates after I heard that they nerfed population/unrest in that one version. I`ve never had a problem with this and I still think that the people should have simply tried other strategies.

Here is a perfect example of not being abled to please everyone. This is one complaint I thought I would never ever see in a game forum. STOP UPDATING GC LOL This sure is not a problem at all for me, 1.03 rocks compared to 1.02 the fixes and changes are perfect. I say go find one of those other TBS games to play, everyone here knows several that lack the GREAT support that Stardock, Frogboy & crew provide. I would feel real weird posting such a comment it is just ridiculious statement to make here or any forum. Thanks for the real good laugh I was bored. LOL :D
I am glad that SDC will not be honoring this request for sure. Thanks SD. Frogboy for your constant updates. You have made me a very LOYAL fan. Every where I go I tell everyone how awesome the game & the support is. :CONGRAT: :d

"People People People. We all knew there'd be rule changes. But all a rule change requires is a change in strategy. That's all. The game remains the same. He who has the power, wins...."

Oh what's the world coming to. I'm quoting the coach from Rollerball (The original and good one, the recent remake stank)
