I just wanted to say, nice interview. Its good to see you getting press, and good press at that. As to the previous AI thread, I like how you threw that bit in there about showing AI. You're killing me though, I can't stand all this waiting for it to be finished ;)

The thing about showing good AI is just how tedious it is to code. Lot of really basic grunt work.

For instance, when doing negotiations with the AI (what I'm working on right now) it's not enough for the AI to just say generic "That deal is not acceptable." It's a lot more interesting to use the AI's ability to analyze the situation and say things like "We believe you should be far more generous human given that you are losing your war with the Drengin Empire." That's a trivial thing to add but having lots of that kind of thing makes the game feel more organic (IMO anyway).

Wow! I agree. Like I've said before, I don't play a lot of games online against people, so I don't get those kind of interactions. Having them would make a HUGE difference in immersion in the game world. So how much longer do we have to wait? ;)

On another, less childlike note :) , I must comment on the new trailer. NICE!

I have to say that I don't like the options for viewing it. I don't want to pay to d/l it. But it still looks cool, even in the smaller window.

How do the screenshots they have posted compare to what it looks like now? And I definitely like the dialog choices. "My yacht has need of a new coat of paint and the crushed bodies of your people will make a lovely shade of ochre." LOL Those are great choices. Defintely inventive.

Well, enough random ramblings for the time being....

Yeah it's a huge improvement from the one currently in the alpha 4 build. I think you guys will be pleased, or so I hope :-) There have also been major changes to the main screen area, new stars, anomalies, debris, etc.
