1.03: Notice on saved games

1.03: Notice on saved games

Just a repeat of a general policy:

We do not garauntee that saved games will work correctly between .X revisions (i.e. 1.0 to 1.01, 1.01 to 1.02 and so forth).

1.03 adds political parties and has tweaks to other gameplay aspects that can affect your saved game. Your save game should still load, but things may be weird in it.

GOod code monkey how about someone saying something to your rude attitude. You are not acting like a nice person, why not act like you preach. Your just a pathetic person make bold statements behind a keyboard. Have fun and save your comments, they are just you trying to be important, guess what your not. LOL LOL

The fact is it is not clear where the 1.3 patch is wise ass. I know now, and so will everyone I come in contact with, because I really am a nice person and I HATE people like you. Your showing the type of person you are to everyone. Rude disrespectful person, and you sure have not earned my respect or anyone else's. :notsure:

For the record I did not threaten anyone, I merely invited someone to Vegas to help him work out his attitude problem where it would change if he did show up. :D I never treat anyone in a bad manner. I treat people the way they treat myself or others. Thanks for being you. ;)

I think stardock has some of the best support I have seen yet of any game. I was not complaining I was trying to help them out that some people may have trouble figuring it out. Not all people obviously but some. I have no problems how it is done only that it was not clear how to use the stardock software to find it. Now that I know how it works it is a good way to have it. The forums that I run there is exact directions on how to find the new updates. How to use the stardock software etc. I was trying to help not knocking the company. :d

Dude, I don't know what I did to earn such crap from you, but I suggest you look inside as to why I seem like such an bad schmuck. Bold? What did I say that could be considered bold except to somebody who should be taking their meds more often?

Gee, I think the software is intuitive and express that opinion and suddenly you *are* making threats - don't even try to weasel out of that one. Last time I checked there is no "attitude adjustment" that doesn't involve physical violence; you're the one now trying to hide behind a keyboard.

The really ironic thing here is I never posted a single thing to you, you were complaining about the software, but so what? Your post was just someone having problems that I didn't know how to fix since I never had any and it's not as though you were specific enough to figure out where the problem came from. Along comes Alank287 and makes a completely whiney, ignorant post. Maybe he was just annoyed and acting irrational, I don't know, but complaining about the fact SDC has standard File/Edit/Etc. menus and saying it's pushing products on him and such was something I felt like responding to since I happen to like Stardock and the way they conduct business. So, I posted back in kind and you for some reason decided I was the mini-me version of the board antichrist. The most I'm guilty of is being a "fanboy" that doesn't suffer fools gladly.

Damn shame this sort of board doesn't have a killfile because then we could both be happier about things.

Pathetically yours,

CM

My experience with setting up stardock was the same as #46 (bonscott). I just read the FAQ instructions. If anything, it took me less than 5 minutes. I've had absolutely no trouble at all using it, and updates have always been right there on the list. Incremental updates mean I don't have to wait forever to download a patch and when I do download, it only takes a minute or so.

Just my 1.89 cents (inflation!)

Much as I love this site....I read the first several posts and am annoyed. This should not be a place for virtual bitch slapping of each other. I like talking about this or any other game (GC most though). I like reading other people's posts about this game. I don't like reading a cat fight between two guys who probably got beat up a lot in high school.

And for the record--the new patch is not as easy as the last (1.02) to find. I haven't really searched for it yet, however.

That being said....I Loooove you Frogboy (Brad) LOL
Please keep up your great work and devotion to this game!!!!!

I really shouldn't post this since it just perpetuates the stuff, but here goes:

(Originally posted by chuck1es): "I don't like reading a cat fight between two guys who probably got beat up a lot in high school."

I like how having someone out of the blue decide to jump on my ass for some perceived insult, and even going so far as to threaten me, is reduced to a "catfight". You then go on to dish out BS of your own with the "probably got beat up a lot in high school."

I have posted a lot of help about this game here and in CSIPGS; but, yes, it is true that I don't have the most diplomatic manner at all times. Still, I didn't post one thing that plenty of other people also didn't post (including Brad himself) but I got singled out for this crap because I dared to use the word "competent" in relation to figuring out SDC.

Whether you agree that my definition of 'competent' is too strict or not, saying that SDC was no different in configuration than an email client and that anyone reasonably competent can figure it out is not grounds for the "catfight", the threat, nor your attempted insults.

I have to say Code Monkey has a point. He *is* helpful and he *doesn't* provoke attacks. I don't always agree with him, but I've never seen him provoke the kind of attacks he's receiving in here. T

Setting up SDC is easier that setting up MY email account. SDC is ball game makers should adopt a similar method of allowing simple updates. (In my humble opinion, which is not worth much 'cos I am an Irishman living in Australia!!) ;)

Listen, it's obvious that Code Monkey is just trying to compliment the authors of Stardock. Chill out, people.

CM, saying that "anyone competant" can install the patch is an insult. It serves no other purpose. It's saying that if you can't easily install the patch, that you are not competant with a computer. Which, incidentally, is not what paying customers want to hear (from anyone) when they're having a problem with the app they bought, and are frustrated. It's a recipe for anger.

Sorry to chime in uninvited, but I hate a flame war on an otherwise great board.

And, for the record, I get along with Stardock just fine, now; the net-code is great, upgrading is so quick and painless that it's like eating candy, but it could really use an interface upgrade. The fact that this forum is filled with so many messages and threads asking for help is enough evidence.

My two cents.

I think a simple link to a page explaining how in plain English to patch a product would have helped a first time user to better use their site.

*sigh* my fault for perpetuating it. :notsure:

To CM, DF, and everyone else (including me).......SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!! yeesh

Re: #62, chuck1es strikes again:
"To CM, DF, and everyone else (including me).......SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!! yeesh"

You know, if you weren't going to respond again to either

A) apologize for being a rude ass who did nothing constructive with your post...

or

B) try to come up with some other sort of genuine flame bait like in your last post...

you just shouldn't have posted anything at all.

I don't know what you think shouting "SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!" is supposed to accomplish constructively. You try to assume some sort of moral highground (we shouldn't be having personal arguments on a game board) at the same time you cannot resist trying to get some sort of last dig in even though as best I can tell Desert Fox really has moved onto happier grounds. I on the other hand made no such promise.

*sigh* ok ok

Code Monkey....I'm so so sorry. I forgot how faceless interaction (such as this) can get to people's heads.

I shall now completely drop this childish conversation as it would get neither of us anywhere.

I'm now going to go to some other post and beg someone to show me how to get the patch. Although....with the problems I've been reading about....should I wait for a later update?

LOL Flamewars are so fun.

Back on topicish: Great game StarDock!

With this new update, I now crash and lose games when I decide to change the government type. Bang right to the desktop I go...and start all over again and again... :(

LOL...reading this thread reminds me why I like interacting with people in the real world rather than on the 'net.

BTW...thanks for the heads up, Brad. I will start a new game ASAP.

Just a note for the game designers. I think you have gone above and beyond with your patching process! You are the first really responsive game designers I've seen. I've been gaming for 20 years so I speak from experience. No other game company takes the actual feedback from the players and recodes the games to incorporate it on a monthly basis. The modular game design is awesome, you want something new we can add it. It's not my right to receive patches or your obligation to supply, so from me THANK YOU.

I just wanted to second what Magnus has said. This game was already great and your devotion and interaction with players have made it a truly novel experience. All developers should take a page from your book!

---i can't stop gushing about this game---

I am sorry for my comment I should have ignored how he responded to someone asking for help. I know better it just hit me wrong. I will not make any more comments like I normally do. People will always keep on doing whatever it is they want anyways. I am sorry to everyone else who witnessed it. ;p

This really stinks , nothing is working for me !! why can't they use the same method before to distribute the updates. This stinks !!!!
I tried it again, it still doesn't work !!!! says it need to validate my account, and it needs to e-mail me a validation, and then i don't get anything in the e-mail !!!!! aaarrggghh!!! why'd they have to mess up a good thing !!!
Elerian1: instead of using lots of exclamation points and going "aaarrggghh", why don't you actually state what your exact problem is to see if anyone can help you. Or are you just here to rant without saying anything?

Also, not sure what you're talking about with changing methods and messing up a good thing. SDC or a program similar to it is what Stardock has been using for all of their many products for at least the past couple of years. Nothing has changed. If you're referring to the fact that 1.030x is not a standalone yet and is only available through SDC, that's nothing new either. All their standalone patches start off as incremental updates through SDC. If you can't figure out what you're doing wrong, it will be available as a stand alone next month.
