surprise! Morale improvements seem to rock

(Note: I accidentally posted this in the General Forum when I meant to post it here. Sorry for the duplicate!)

Here is a quick & dirty analysis of the difference in effect between a morale improvement (Entertainment Network) and a planet quality improvement (Soil Enrichment)

I've been wanting information on the merit of morale improvements, but none was forthcoming. So I did this and I must admit that I am shocked at how much better Entertainment Network is than I thought. I used to wait forever before building it but now I may start rush-buying it on turn 1.

I like your analysis.
I sometimes used propaganda to get to 100% morale at the start of the game to ensure a good pop growth. Comparing price of propaganda (which can sometimes allow you to have more income for the same 100% happiness civ-wide), and found out that Entertainment Networks are much cheaper. This means the 20% morale boost they provide is largely worth the upkeep cost.
Propaganda costs more zhen your pop grows, but the entertainment network can usually reduce propaganda costs for a net gain of 2 to 6bc per planet.

This is why I love the Populist sect.

Hi thonqor:

An analysis of the data in your link tells me that if you want fast production go for Entertainment Networks but if you want fast cash go for Soil Enrichment.

Pop growth is best with Entertainment Networks but your income growth doesn't match Soil Enrichments growth. The trick with the EN gambit might be to build (not buy) SE after buying the EN.
