Autopilot colony ships get extra move when colonizing?

Has anyone else noticed that a colony ship gets the equivalent of three moves on autopilot when colonizing a planet but only when on autopilot?

For example, let's say that the map looks like this:
-----------------
| C | | | P |
-----------------
C - Colony Ship with 2/2 moves ; P - Planet

If you manually move the colony ship right two moves, then it stops next to the planet, and you must wait until the next turn to colonize the planet.

But if you set an Auto-Pilot course to the planet, then the colony ship will move two spaces and then colonize the planet all on the same turn.

Is this a bug?

Thanks.

This also works with attacking ships, and colony invasions. I'm not sure if it is a bug or a feature though. I haven't heard or seen any offical word.

When it works to my advantage, I'll call it a feature. Today, it worked to my disadvantage. So, it's a bug. :)
