For users who have version 1.02.49 (stand alone or from SDC) please post any problems you think are bugs here.

Note: A feature you wish the game had or a change in game play is not a bug. ;)

Frogboy, you said "Influence saving is one of those imperfect solutions to a difficult problem. The influence algorithm is highly complex. In order to have it restore to the exact state you left it, it would need to save vastly more data. This put us in the position of either having the game take a minute on large maps or have it take 2 to 3 turns to recalibrate the influence on loading a saved game."

Good to know and I agree with you, good choice, thx. Question, what about adding a button that we can hit to refresh the influence. Then it is our choice to wait out that time, minute or more?

But I'm still curious as to why I see the influence numbers jumping around during the game see. Hmm, maybe I'm loading saved games too much, but then that is why I would like a button. Thx for listening.

In my last game, my Terror Start start moving at 6/1 moves: it moves 6 places per turn!!!

Fantastic way to destroy a galaxy!

When I colonize a planet and the moral choice let me have technological and/or economic bonuses - they don't appear in the detail view of the new planet. Production bonuses do appear though. At 14 pages - does Frogboy still read this thread ?

As I said on another thread.

Governors are not working.

Checking systems everyonce and awhile no social projects are being built on some systems.

I have the same problem as vynd (# 272 and #286).
Everytime I exit the game, my system locks up. Also happens if I try to alt-tab. Only started with the 1.03 versions.

Non Responsive Turn Button & Ships:

Don't know if this was reported, but I think I've figured this one out. If you load a game while the planetary management screen was opened involuntarily by the game (e.g. after loading/colonization vs. the player clicking on it), that loaded game will exhibit some strange behavior that includes non responsive turn buttons and ships that autopilot but never move. Other symptons I've noticed include the missing progress reports upon loading as well.

Add invasion to the list of involuntary opening of planetary management screens.

For the people having problems with alt-tab: in another thread someone said that their alt-tab hang problems went away when they turned auto-hide off the task bar. Do any of you have auto-hide turned on?

For those of you having problems with crashes for elections, etc. (A) Do you have mods installed, or were there any installed at the start of the game? (B) Were your save games started before version 1.03? and (C) if the answer to B was yes, does it happen with a new game or save games saved with the most current version?

Usually the invisible ships is caused by not being able to find the ship graphics, or there being multiple copies of the ship graphics files when the game is started/loaded. I've never heard of it happening after building a specific ship...I've added this to my list.

I've found and fixed the end game crashes that prevent the submission screen coming up, and Scott has fixed the crashes on the stats and end game screen. I've also found the cause of the crash on the diplomacy screen when you ask for a bunch of stuff and then use the influence slider.

(forgive me if this has been posted, lots of bugs here)

On every single version of the game I've played (initial and all updates) every so often I get a graphics glitch where my ships vanish. It only happens like when I first build a new class for the first time... the ship is there but there is no icon for it on the main screen. Exiting the game and reloading fixes it, but it's annoying.

Miguel,

A new ship as in there's been a new ship released (like the excalibur) or a new ship as in the first time that you build it that game?

I'm getting the 'invisible ship' bug. My dreadnaughts are invisible. The debug file says:

*DEBUG ERROR: *** Unable to load sprite book 0ship12 ***
*DEBUG ERROR: *** Unable to load sprite book 0ship23 ***
*DEBUG ERROR: *** Unable to load sprite book Phasor04 ***

Quite a few errors list in there as well.

Oh, and as a follow-up, it was the first dreadnaught I had built in the game.

1) Last two games were won as Alliance Victory with correct Alliance Victory cutscene and entry on Metaverse but end game summary screen gave cultural victory blurb.

2) Possible bug: Those red space shark things that escape from the zoo are displayed in their little picture panel as "Rouge Monsters" (or something similar - its the Rouge thing I'm querying). Should that really be be Rouge or should it be ROGUE?

3) Should foundary should be foundry - haven't got a dictionary to hand just now but FOUNDARY looks wrong to me and has irritated me every game I played.

I think there may be a problem with the value of trade routes resetting when new trade routes are added to the same destination.

I had 3 trade routes going to the same Yor planet. They were well-established and were averaging around 80-90 bc per turn. I then made 2 more trade routes to the same Yor planet, although originating from a different planet in my empire. Now, my original 3 routes are averaging around 40-50 bc per turn, same as the new ones.

There is a bug when allying with minor races. I allied with the I-League and was then unable to break the treaty, no matter how many times I pressed the "break alliance" command button. As a side-note, every time I pressed the button, the picture in the lower-left changed from the I-League icon to a picture of the Altarian ambassador.

Late in the game the displayed Turns left for researching a new tech is much more than what is actually required. On the turn after you start researching it, it will display the correct number of turns. This effect is consistent in all my games during the later stages.

I dunno if this has been reported already, but when I am at war with a civ, I cannot demand any ships/sbs from them in return for a peace treaty. Also, I keep paying and recieving tribute from dead civs

Unable to Select Alien Ships During Auto-Pilot Phase:

If a player ship has arrived at its destination through auto-pilot and still has any movement points remaining, command will be returned to the player but he will not be able to select any alien ships until all auto-piloting ships deplete their movement points. You can still view alien ship stats by double clicking on them, but this is extremely tedious since you have to close the information screen and memorize anything you just saw. Please allow players to select alien ships during the auto-pilot phase so we can better direct them on the battlefield.

Correction to the above:

You can't even bring up the information screen for alien ships in fact, so players are effectively blinded during the auto-pilot phase since there's no way to distinguish a the alien ship classes unless you've memorized each of their different graphics.

In the game I finished yesterday (1.03):

When the Yor came to me for peace, I looked through their list of starships. Listed among them was "Die Humans!" three times. When I selected it, the dialogue was "Well, slave race...these Die Humans! will do." I didn't actually take one though.

Two planets lost their graphics in the toolbar, but not on the main screen or the main planet screen. Both were planets I took from the Arceans, and it only happend after I terraformed them. (But it didn't happen to other terraformed planets.)

The Altarian diplomacy screen showed them as having an alliance with themselves. "Allied with the Altarian Republic."

Missing ship graphics not just for me but for the others empires too (Rangers and up).

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I forgot to mention that the Arceans, in the same game, were confined to the top two sectors of the map from the very beginning. Throughout the game, they didn't do anything but build star bases in clumps by the dozen. Ten here, six there, etc. It was like a giant mushroom patch. Their intelligence was set on Bright.

Vanir: but when you load the save game, are your invisible ships suddenly visible? If not, do you have the dreadnought.mdl and combattransport.mdl files in your gfx directory?

Omar: it's a feature; you can't trade for AI ships when you're at war with them.

Bill: what class planets were they? Also, do you mean in the planet list? Do the missing ships re-appear if you save and load the game? Do you have a ranger.mdl file in your gfx directory?
