Until renamed Bernard Marx,
labeled inappropriately,
test-tube legacy,
a half-truth blessed...
only a test.
Until recognized Bernard Marx,
highly acclaimed,
publicly regarded,
head of community household famed,
high authority adhearance,
trespassing prohibited by,
high security clearance.
Until as threatening as Bernard Marx,
social stability,
marked by its fragility,
dizzying crtique and accusation,
finger-pointing in self-annointing,
free from foil folding tablet punching elation.
Until scared, old, nation,
gives way to,
destiny of indifference,
we remain not Bernard citizens,
but numbers,
consumers living as,
test-tube residents.
BRAVE NEW WORLD p . 150
The Savage shooke his head. "It all seems to me quite horrible."
"Of course it does. Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid incomparison with the over-compensations for misery. And, of course, stability isn't nearly so spectacular as instability. And being, contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand."

the poem and the book too. I've read thru quite a few of your poems but I never know what to say about poetry (or in general, actually) besides that I liked it, and you're very talented- which I'm sure you know already!
