Is there a way to get GC windowed so you can still see the Desktop?

You can do this with GM4 can this be done with GC.

Thanks again

Are you running galcivw.exe from a Command prompt? If so as long as your resolution is greater than 1024x768 you should be able to play it windowed and be able to see the desktop. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

Yes you can. You need to be running at a resolution greater than 1024x768, in 16bit colour mode, then the windowed version shouldn't take up the entire screen.

If you just want to be able to do other things at the same time as playing, you can alt-tab away from the game any time the game isn't in the middle of things like the AI turns. :)

Why is there this stupid limitation of 16bit? Who uses this color depth nowdays anyway. it should also work in 24 and 32 bit. They are more then capable of displaying all colors from 16nit pallete.

I think the 16bit is needed for the animations. You know, the anomolies and such. That's my first guess, anyways.

No so sure you eyes can tell much difference between the 26 and 24 bit. Until my new machine, I used 16 bit for speed. ;)

You can tell the difference in colour gradients... Or that's what I find, anyway. :)
Plenty of games still maintain 16bit modes for people, even now, and the graphics are generally not suffering in GalCiv due to the smaller palette, so who cares? :)
