JoeUser Celebrities?

Is There Such a Phenomenon?

I'm new to JoeUser.com, but I'm wonder if there is a bit of celebrity within the community? Does having one of those top10 users respond to posts make us feel good? Having the person with the number one site agree with your topic make a nice little feeling down in the cockles and sub-cockles of your heart? And when they disagree, does it make you sink into a hole?

When Dharmagrl responded to one of my posts, it gave me a wow factor. I guess that will pass over time. :)

I almost never look at the "top ten" list, so it doesn't affect me one way or the other. I just enjoy the wide variety of opinions and comments from the people here. It sometimes offers the opportunity to hear a viewpoint that you might not get from your own little corner of the world, and gives you something new to think about.

I am the biggest "celebrity" here, I have quite a reputation indeed.

That is correct.

Also correct hehe! That is the great thing, there are so many fabulous people here that you learn something new everyday!

I would prefer Sir Peter or General Maxwell (I was an SAS general in case you are confused).

Simple minds old boy, simple minds

Whatever. We're not all going to worship at the altar of Pete you know.

I've never considered myself a JU celebrity.  I hope that I never do.

As for commenting...I'll respond to something I can relate to...even things that I can't relate to sometimes!

Oh, and I still get that feeling of awe when Bakerstreet, Stevendedalus and Draginol respond to something I've written.

Hmmm I wonder if *witholding* commentary would increase your celebrity status? Hope not, I don't think I am capable of shutting up.

Me, a newcomer, having blogged here for only about 6 weeks, have dethroned his pompous ass, and have held the number 8th or 9th position for "top blog sites" for several weeks now, and am slowly but inexorably creeping up on the "top users" list, with ol petey at # 27, and yours truly at # 30.

I barely write here so it is only right that someone who recycles my material from three months ago is ranked higher than me. Tell me, how many visitors does your website receive? www.sirpetermaxwell.com receives over 15'000 a day, the simple fact of the matter is that I am far too busy to spend a lot of time here at joeuser as the novelty has worn off and I am now far bigger than a mere blogging website.

One day you will realise that getting into the joeuser top 10 can at this stage in the sites development can be achieved by writing a weeks worth of articles, complete with 20 - 25 inane comments on each article from the half wit contingent of joeuser.

Ok, If you have "dethroned" me as you like to claim, then I pass my throne over to you.

Lets see what you can do with it. I'm sure everyone reading this will be thrilled to know that Little Whip will be providing the humorous and witty articles from now on. I challenge you to write an article that is as witty as one of mine (without mentioning me)

You can't just say you are the top blogger without having anything to back it up. I will be checking your blog regularly to see how the new top dog is performing. I wish you well.... It's over to you, it's time to match the Maxwell wit without using my name to reel the readers in.

ryllen, i agree that it's a great feeling to receive this kind of support early on.

so i think it's great that you posted this acknowledgement to dharma, because she is very encouraging to new bloggers on ju, and she deserves kudos for that.

by the way, i used to almost fall over when the famous "muggaz" responded to my posts

You exact words were that you have "dethroned" me which suggests you obviously felt I was the top blogger (as i was there to be dethroned in the first place)

Or are you now claiming you dethroned me from the lofty heights of the number 8 spot in the top ten?

When people start using words such as "define" and inference" it is a sign they are back tracking as they realise their first statement was ludicrous. Which in this case was that you have somehow taken over my mantle as the greatest blogger, that is fine if you genuinely believe that but you must have something to back it up was the point I was trying to make.

Eitherway I have recognised your amazing wit and interesting personality and have designated my role at joeuser to you, I'm sure you can entertain everybody with your tales of being a housewife.

I will still be around to make a few comments and write the odd article but you are now the greatest blogger on joeuser so I bid you good day and good luck.
