WE GOT AN ASSISGNMENT!

I"M GOING TO ILLINOIS!!!!!

Chief Edwards was as good as his word, and today we got an assignment.

We are going to Scott AFB, Illinois...our first choice because of it's proximity to Dave's family and his hometown.

I'm sitting here crying because I'm so relieved/happy/excited....my children will get to see their grandparents, we will get to visit on holidays...at last, we will be close to family.

Dave doesn't even know, he's attending a function for the Queen of Denmark so hasn't heard the news yet.  I can't wait to tell him.

I'm getting the hell out of South Dakota!  I can't believe it!!!

YAY!!!!  I am so glad that you have a game plan.

Illinois, huh?  Sounds like I hear a trip to Chicago in the future!  (That's about 1/2 way for each of us, or about a 4 or so hour drive).  Maybe we can get the Michigan ladies and the Ohio ladies (and anyone else who likes traveling) for a Chicago ladies night out!

Oh, I want to go on the ladies night out, but I'm way down in DC--boo hoo.

Congrats on the assignment...what a relief, you must be SOOOOOO incredibly happy. Now I'm simply keeping my fingers crossed that the packing and moving are completely uneventful!

Hope you are out celebrating!

Yes, the Queen and Crown Prince of Denmark. They went up there for some reason and Dave was one of the people selected to go mingle with them.

He knows now, I told him.  Not quite the reaction I was expecting...I was hoping for backflips, yells and tears of delight because that's what I was doing, but Dave handles and reacts to things a little differently than the rest of us.  I did call my FIL though, and managed to tell him in between sobs that he'd get to spend as much time with his grandchildren as he wanted.

So, we're Illinois bound.

Belleville IL, is 20 miles away from St Louis.

Yay!  Culture!  Diversity!  Shopping!  Crime.....?!

Oh who cares, we finally have orders!

Denmark?!?!

Congratulations on your impending relocation. Although aside from the family aspect, I fail to see how Illinois is better than South Dakota. Although Chicago accounts for something. But you said Illinois, not Chicago, so I assume you get to go to some boondocks part of Illinois.

Zwei - It's Belleville, Il, and it's about 20 miles SE of St Louis.  It's better than SD because :  we don't have to drive to Minneapolis or Denver to get to a zoo, a museum, an art gallery, a city with more than 25,000 people in it, an amusement park, a mall with more than 20 stores, a restaurant that isn't 'fast food'...because we can drive for 2 hours and be at my in law's place, at my husband's hometown.  I guess you'd have to have lived in my part of SD for 9 years in order to understand what a cultural wasteland it is out here.  It's pretty bad.  Here's some good examples:  we don't have an 'Olive Garden' restaurant, we only got a Gap store last year, a 'Borders' the year before and public transportation around here is car pooling or a tandem bicycle.

That and I have bitchy, shitty neighbors....who I'm going to go bid a fond farewell to the day that I leave.

Emma...thanks for the hug.  I'm going to go get drunk now.

Yeah, Mikimouse was right, I'm a raging alcoholic......speaking of him where's he been recently?  Did he get exiled?

I had one for you, one for me...one for Karma, one for Jill, one for Shades....I'm working on one for Nic...I have a few more to get through for all of the JU sisters.....and I'll be blaming all of you for my hangover in the morning!  Just kidding...(I was going to say that we all know my hangover would be former President Reagan's fault, but then decided that that wouldn't be a very nice thing to say)..

..anyway *raises her glass* here's to Scott AFB, Illinois and the JU sisterhood.  Maybe someday the two shall meet?

Minneapolis? Will you be coming here before you move.... Because that happens to be the city I live in!!!!!!! Road trip to the windy city must be in order!!!!!!!!! Congrats!! I am sooooo excited for you!
Yes, we will be bypassing Minneapolis on the way to Indiana and Illinois.  I think that I might be able to persuade Dave to make an overnight stop in Minn instead of Sioux Falls...perhaps dinner and drinks (unless you're prego by then) would be in order!  That would be awesome!!!!!
That would be awesome! I do think a sister road trip on Chicago is quite warrented! Plus Sioux falls is BORING. There is better stuff to do In MN!

I just found out that there is not wait for a 4 bedroom house at Scott...we'll basically have a house waiting for us when we get there!  Yay!!!!!

Yes, he did... for writing his last article. It was a stupid article to write, but if that was the only reason he got exiled it seems odd to me... I mean, it is... eh hem, was his blog.

I'm so happy for you!!!! That's gotta be so exciting! When exactly do you move? St. Louis is a nice place

That'd be the most awesome thing, Karen.

How are ya holdin' up w/that hangover?

Woohoo!! The news just gets better all the time....definitely sounds like that is where you're meant to be!

Yes, he did... for writing his last article.

That's not why he got banned.  He's not here to defend himself, so we will just leave it at that.

if that was the only reason he got exiled

I highly doubt that was the only reason.

When exactly do you move?

I made the arrangements this morning...Dave comes back August 13th, the movers come pack and pick up our stuff on August 16th and 17th, and we leave Ellsworth as soon as we can get the house cleaned to inspection standards and clear housing etc...some hopefully around the 18th or 19th.

Our hopes have become tangible now.  That's really an awesome feeling.
