Final battle of AP Campaign

Um...help?
I know I should build constructors. I figured that much out from the mission description. But how do I keep the Drath from eating me for breakfast? What battle strategy do I use? I'm the sort who, in the regular games, likes to win by cultural influence if possible, or by alliance by trade if not. When facing a serious military threat that won't listen to reason, I simply crank up the military spending and overwhelm them. But that clearly won't work here.
I've been able to bull my way through the rest of the Campaign, with a little help on scenario 3. But this scares me.
