1.01a "Patch"

Hey Frogboy,

When can we see a "patch" available in the download section at www.galciv.com? I know there are others like me who have had problems with the StarDock route, and have decided to hold out for a patch. Thanks for your hard work!

Do you mean at Stardock Central you can't find the patch? Did you try putting your serial number back into the profile.. dang I can't remember what to do for that if you didn't try it, but that was my problem. Somehow the serial number had been erased and I wasn't registered anymore.

Hi Star Jammer!

I am hoping we have something together this week for you.

Oh, BTW, Brad; THANKS for adding in the last patch (ssmes like it was then) the notice about the UFP meeting next turn, that was a great call. Think you could add in something like: your senate elections are next turn, too?

Maybe with enough espionage, we could find out when *other* empires have *their* elections too... hm...? :d

Frogboy, if you're still lurking, can u tell me how I can identify where the windowed version is in relation to the regular version? I use the windowed but since the patches came out I went back to regular. HOwever i noticed there was a patch on the windowed on 4/2, but there was another patch on the regular on 4/3. Is that how we know if the windowed is up to date with the regular? via date? Thanks!

purefx, I'll try to come up with a way for the windowed version to be on the same path as the standard one.

Dearmad, actually Cari added that UP issue. I'll ask her about the election but i"m not sosure about that. Part of the reason is that it might just remind players to lower taxes to win. ;)

Oh, then THANKS Cari!

Brad,

Oh. If it's by design then, skip it. Although I understood that you coudn't willy-nilly lower taxes anyway, since your people got used to it and raising them back up pissed people off. The subtle $$ price built into winning the election by simple tax drop seems to have a lingering effect that I quite like and think is fair.

Is there a way to use SDC to just download the patched files? I have the bonus pack already; surely the 1.01a patch isn't 80 megs.

Brad,

As far as lowering taxes to win . . . and I know people will hate me for this . . .

Why not have the voting based on average approval rating since the last election. So far in the 5 games I have played, I've never lost an election because I just lower taxes the turn before. Using the average scheme would actual force players to keep the people happy for more than one turn.
