AI updates itself?

Hi, I've heard that the AI in GalCiv can connect to the metaverse and update itself with tactics and strategies used by human opponents.

How exactly do I enable this?

Not sure what you heard.

The only time you connect to the Metaverse is at the end of the game, to submit you game to the Metaverse.

The Metaverse stores game data. Stardock can use this information in game development but there is no updating AI.

It was mentioned on page 34 of my game manual. Ah well, I suppose it was one of those features that they never got around to implementing.

Pity really, a neural net AI trained by the whole community could be awesome. Neural nets are excellent for AI, the only backgammon program that has ever given me a run for my money was based on a neural net.
Most rule or weighting based AI soon becomes predictable, neural nets if well taught can come up with genuinely original play (it might be a crap play, but there again it could be a blinder) and more importantly it seldom makes the same mistake twice.

The metaverse was used to retrieve data so the coders would update the ai accordingly.
Neural nets for a game like galciv would be very hard to train. Backgammon has almost no rule in comparison, and there are very little choices to be made every turn.
