Gah! Achivements make it hard to "defend" oneself!

Im doing the "complete a game with only battleships". And im doing VERY well. The AIs doesnt stand a chance BUT the pirates do :(. Ive defeated one of them and the second one is "severely defended". And it sure is.. with a 260+ ships... HOW am i supposed to beat that with 16 battleships!? Im Advent, full research in everything. Lvl very from 5-8

Simple.

Hit and run tactics, until their numbers are shrunken down to a more manageable level.

Send in 3 (lvl 6+)Revelation battle cruisers and use Provoke hysteria on the base. It doesn't matter if they die because you can just replace them with the Progenitor's resurrection. After that, they'll no longer reinforce so you can wear them down with hit and run attacks.
