So, planning on buying the virtual version. A couple of questions.

Hey there,

I'm Dutch and like most of the European would be rulers of the universe I'm pretty bummed there's still no release date for Europe. That's why I'm planning on buying the virtual version, though I got a few questions.

I'm planning on buying the virtual version only (so not going to get them to ship me retail with it, because 20 bucks is a little steep for me) but i'm wondering if this one is equal in content, options and compatibility to the boxed retail version. Also is it Patchable? If I were to buy it and delete it from my computer., will I be able to redownload it at any time? á lá steam? Also, Can i just copy it to a DVD-R myself?

Cheers in advance, guys.

Hey,

I'm Dutch also and i've bought the game (the virtual version) on the date it was released, and was pleasently surprised. The stardock application is quite like steam, downloading the game at incredible speeds and installing automaticly. Patching also works in the same manner.
And yeah you can redownload it at any time by just logging in with your account into the Stardock program.

As the above poster basically said, yes to all your questions.

You can archive the game content and burn it to a DVD-R. Just remember to also burn a copy of the Stardock Central install program.

Greets,

Bought mine over here in the UK the same way through Stardock.

- It is patchable yes. Unlike Steam, my experience is when a game gets patched, you actually get the patch right away rather than have to wait until a specific version is released for the download option (not sure if thats true with all games, but it seems to be with Sins and GalCiv 1&2.
- You can download as many times as you like as far as I know. I've deleted and re-installed from Stardock Central a good twenty times for a single game.
- There are big backup files that contain all the game data that you can burn off or back up. When you want to re-install, just open up Stardock Central, right click your game, and select 'restore from backup' and it installs from the backed up files (and patches itself).
- No, it isn't missing anything from the boxed version - apart from the DVD :P

It's the full game, nothing limited about it at all.

First-party (Stardock) games on SDC/TGN are indeed identical to the retail versions in functionality and compatibility, and are patch compatible. In fact, SDC is the preferred method to patch retail copies as well. Once you've got it registered either way, there's no difference between the two.
