More seamless support for CursorXP files

Stardock updated CursorFX today with a minor update to make it able to use CursorXP themes a bit more seamlessly. Thanks for everyone's feedback.

OK maybe instructions would help...do we uninstall the first version? I just downloaded the "update", it started by uninstalling the original, and near the end of the install process it gave me "Error. Could not access network location\Themes" and then "fatal error".

So now I have tried to remove CursorFX and start again. Neither XP or FX show on Add Remove Programs or in CCleaner program list yet I still have Ecliz working as my cursor. I search and there is still XP in Stardock under Program files, though I uninstalled it yesterday. Tried reinstalling FX and same "fatal error". Anyone with ideas?

arcturus13, all you should have done is run Stardock Central and opt to update CursorFX through there when the notification came up. No need to uninstall the previous version.

I just clicked on the link for the "update" Brad provided. I have now downloaded 4 times rebooted 5 times, uninstalled 3 times over 2 days. Just tried whole process again and still got "fatal error". Started SDC for the first time in a while, it checked for updates and only gave me "desktopX".

In the other main thread they talk about version 2.00.004, Brad's link is giving me 2.0.0.0. Sorry but I don't see where to get .004. And even with everything I can find uninstalled I still can't even get FX to install. Thanks for your help!!

Hi Mike, Qetzal is in the Gallery Library, just checked, I downloaded it yesterday.

arcturus13 like DigitalCHET said in reply #4, use Stardock Central to download. If you don't have it go here, WWW Link, it's free and it makes downloading programs very easy. You also use it uninstall the programs.

mike is right, I can't seem to find it in the library. Maybe he updated it and it's back in moderation. There's a version here on dA, though I don't know if it's the latest update or not.

Philly, like I said, I do have SDC, I ran it, the only update it offered me was "desktopX". I"m sorry but I don't see where to get the latest update, and anything I try and download will not install.

arcturus13 have you looked under Misc?
Yes, it offers me the "desktopx" update in the pop-up window, or "cursorXP" from 2003 in the list on the left.

Bebi Bulma & Mike, I guess we have just crossed over to the Twilight Zone. I use WC Browser, if I look on the left hand side of the screen and click Skins and Themes and click cursors it's there. If I use the WC home page and click on the Galleray Library for cursors, yup, it's not there!

EDIT: Okay now it's gone from where I said it was. Must be getting an update to it.

The Plus version won't show up in SDC until after you pay for it, in case that might apply.

Daiwa, well that would be true, duh. I'll go get the Dunce hat and sit in the corner. :d

arcturus13 I'm sorry, totally missed your mention of SDC. What OS are you running? If it's Vista make sure your are running as admin.

arcturus, you should really contact support.

Philly, I am on XP, and it is the free version of cursorXP/FX. Frogboy/Brad, I will try to contact support, I'm not sure how to do that, but it will have to be tomorrow at this point.
Thanks to everyone for the help!

Philly - meant no razz or disrespect, in case you took it that way.

On my system, this version still has a problem reported by another user in the original CursorFX thread, namely badly choppy cursor movement with any theme. This makes the program unusable from my point of view. Also, I had to get a new CursorFX Plus activation code for a fresh install of this version; the code sent to me for the first version no longer worked. Not very clever.

Good news! I had finally given up yesterday and uninstalled both XP&FX, after backing up all of my XP cursor themes. I cleaned out all traces that I could find, ran regedit, etc.. Well, I saw this article and thought I'd try again today. I have an FXPlus subscription so I got the download from support. During the first part of install it said it needed to uninstall a previous installation. Evidently I didn't get it all. After finalizing the install and NOT launching the program I went to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes (this is the Windows XP location). I copied all of my CXP cursor themes straight into the themes folder, did a refresh and then made sure they were there...they were. I then restarted my system and then CursorFX and every cursor was listed as they should be.

I hope this works out for more of you guys. Now if it just stays this way. Good job on the fix to the Stardock Team! Thanks. :CONGRAT:  :)

I'm having problems since I installed the update. I'm sorry I did as the application was finally running smooth after much communication with support. Since the update, my cursor goes back to default whenever I use Icon Packager. When I load a new Icon set, for example, the cursor returns to default. I then have to open up Cursor FX and re install my custom cursor.
