Unable to Update DA

Hi, This is my first post on the site, but I have been playing the game for at least a year and a half now

Like many people I am having a problem with ship movement with version 1.80e, I understand that this is not the latest version. In Stardock Central it recognizes my Dark Avatar game as Version 1.80q100, however, on the games main menu it recognizes it as 1.80e. Every time i press "Update Game" nothing happens, and it lists the last update as of occuring on 2/1/08. I am unsure why this is happening, I read the posts about modifying my registry but this is something i am hesitant to do. I have just bought this computer and whenever I modify the registry of a computer it's only in the most desperate of situations. If i had to do this, I would like someone to post detailed directions on how to fix this problem Via my registry. This problem is frustrating me and I would like to be able to play Galciv while I await to obtain the appropriate funds to purchase Sins of a Solar Empire. Stardock has been a great company with excellent reliability and Galciv has kept me entertained for countless hours. I hope that this issue is resolved soon so i can go back to enjoying
Galciv.

PS: Another slight problem i have is with this website and IE7 for some reason it can't load, i am running vista and IE7 can't load Stardock or this site, to visit these sites I have to use firefox. No big deal, just curious if anyone has the same problem.

Update:

Fixed Using RegEdit

How To:

1. After closing Stardock Central and GalCiv2 Open Start menu and select run, or if you using Vista use the windows search box and type in "regedit"
2. Hit enter
3. In Regedit open folder on the left "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" then open folder that says "SOFTWARE" Scroll down until you get to the "Stardock" folder open it, then open the folder "Drengin.net" then open the "GalCiv2" folder then open the "DarkAvatar" folder
4. At this point make sure you are in the "DarkAvatar" folder
5. In the "DarkAvatar" folder Right click on the file that says "Verison"
6. It will open at text box, delete what is written there and type 1.70, this will make your computer understand the version is out of date when you open Stardock
7. Open Stardock
8. Go to Games
9. Go to Galciv and press the plus buttion, and scroll down to Dark Avatar
10. Right Click Dark Avatar and click Update
11. It should update and work fine

Note: I did not come up with this solution I only wrote each individual step, the fix i read was from kokeaux's post and was posted by nazerim. If he reads this, thank you. I hope this guide helps people get rid of the Fleet and Ship movement problems assosiated with version 1.80e.
