The end is near...

After years of complete domination of the United Planets, the subserviant empires decided to put forth a referrendum. "Your empire will pay all the other empires per year..."

We were outraged, and outvoted. We had already placed maxed Starbases in every sector of the empire.. plus we placed defensive starbase stations in nuetral sectors to slow down an invading fleet. In reserve each of our 9 class19+ worlds had 2 battleaxes to defend them, maxed bonuses.

Our empire stretches in the upper left sectors of the known universe. We have 2 major fleets stationed in the nuetral border starbases during the previous arms race with the Drengin. Each fleet contains dreadnoughts and combat transports. Secondary defenses include two designated anti-matter missile installations to erradicate any incoming fleet. As the population of the inner empire continues to grow.. more of our population "volunteers" to join the army. It is the only way to keep everyone employed and happy.

After a year of dealing with the United Planet's sanctions against our empire.. we leave the UP.

Immediately, our trade union reported casualties on all routes. A major blow to our VERY fragile economy, which is spiralling into recession.

A few years of budget cuts leaves several shipyards and moral boosting projects shutdown, but the empire holds on.

A huge build up against our empire on all fronts.. it seems the United Planets has decided to not only vote us out economically but also existence... war is inevitable.

The pacifists of our parliment have suddenly lost power to the more extreme war party. The chancellor has no choice but to allow a pre-emptive strike planning.

End story..

Dear Fellow GalCiv players,

The above is a true account of my current game. All the defaults settings but playing on Tough setting. I had to restart about 10 times to get a perfect planet starting point.. the AI is really something.

I'm going to lose the above game big time.. due to the UP bug when you leave but still have the UP sanctions on your empire. War spending plus a messed up economy spelled certain doom to my perfect empire.

I've tried 2 games on Masochist.. let me just say, the AI is extremely aggressive and plays against your weaknesses nicely. I'm finishing up a study with a Saved Masochist Starting game in perfect planetary position, so far no matter what my approach to stand up to the AI, it ends up a complete beat down :)

Keep up the good work. Would love to see a little more diversity with starships in the end game though.
