16:9 video and stills stretched?

I did a little research and thought I had it but I still need some help. Movies and still media type files just don't seem to like widescreen - is this fixable? I've tried running in windowed mode with no luck. Any help? My native resolution is 1680 x 1050. Thanks.

Scaled is as scaled does.

It may be moddable, but the game is set up for 4:3.

It's not just the movies -- I just upgraded to a 24" widescreen and GC2 looks like hell at the native 1920x1200 res. Everything just looks a little bit off, not as sharp as it should be. Enabling AA causes white sparkling on all the straight lines. Running it in a 1600x1200 window fixes it, but I'd like to be able to use my whole monitor.

Silent Hunter 4 shipped with ludicrously bad support for high resolutions, but it was fixed in a patch. If devil-spawned Ubisoft can manage that, hopefully Stardock can have proper widescreen support in 2.0 if not in time for TA's release.

You should maybe try a different video driver. I'm using that resolution too, and the game looks just fine. Quite good in fact. Or maybe your video card is weak and just can't handle that high of a resolution very well?

If I can run at 1920x1200 and 4x AA, I don't think my video card is overly weak :)

Anyway, for some inexplicable reason the problem has gone away. I played around with resolution and fullscreen vs. windowed mode and can't reproduce it. This time GC2 is the only 3d app I've run since my last boot, perhaps there was a conflict or something wacky going on with other programs that caused the AA artifacts. Alternatively, gremlins.

I think the invasion screen is still messed up though. I'll know for sure in a while when I continue my game.
