I Am a Night Owl

I'm a night owl.

I just noticed that it is 3:30 in the morning and I had intended to get to sleep before midnight since I have a lot to do tomorrow. Part of the night owl situation is due to holiday time-warp. Things just don't seem to keep on track during the holidays. Another part is that I just got a new Mac and I'm trying to figure things out, try some new software and figure out how to get that disk out that got stuck. I figured it out and it was common sense (reboot) but I'm not impressed since I've only had this since Tuesday.

Another part is that I am a true, down to the feather night owl. My mum tells me that as a baby I was always awake. In fact, since I was the oldest, when my sister came along and slept like a normal baby my mom took her to the doctor to find out what was wrong with her. While I sometimes sleep a long time, I generally don't like sleeping too much if I think something interesting is going to happen.

I also remember teachers in school asking me if I got enough sleep. I never did because I was always reading books until late at night.

I've been a bit better the last couple years since I really realized how different I am when I get enough sleep. I know that seems like a no-brainer. In university, you can kind of muddle through with little sleep, but once I had a regular job and regular hours the difference really showed.

I kind of chuckle when I see kids at school with dark circles under their eyes. I wonder if they are also staying up reading despite their parents' best efforts to put them to sleep.

I'm a night person too. Adrian is not so much, so that kinda sucks for me.

Yeah, it's not much fun to stay up alone, but worse when someone else is waiting for you so that they can get some sleep. I hate the guilt factor

I became a night owl with the birth of my oldest.  I would stay up until she woke up for that middle of the night feeding.  That was almost 25 years ago, and I have not broken that habit yet.
