Any chance of a patch before Christmas?

Not that I am pushing. Just wondering whether we are going to get a surprise in the chrissy sack?
Anyway, the more people I show this game to the more are becoming fans, can't wait for more features...
Somebody had to ask ;)

Somebody did ask already in another thread. :p

My response was along the lines of the following....

Given the consumer oriented nature IC should be expect anything less? I think not! :CONGRAT:

Way to be behind the curve, the rumor beta 5 has already flown through the forums already windex :P

No beta 5 :P

And probably no patch -- all the people who could upload it to SDC are on Christmas break. Ergo the bug with the old version being on SDC can't be fixed, either :P

*cough*

there are always religious minorities to do the Christmas lifting.

lol, I remember the beta5 thread :)
This was just a little, would it be cool or what to have a patch in the next day or so thread.

Wow! Sorry about the typos in my prior post. :SNIFF!:

[thinks - must always proof read before clicking on the post button]

There is no bug with SDC (I already replied in another thread - old versions are not maintained to "revert" back to on the server) and no Beta 4 patch is currently planned. It's likely the next version will be release in February.

um, this ain't the fourth of July Yarlen, and either way that ain't funny.

Well I guess considering what I'm assuming is a pretty big time crunch for IC.. I really would rather they focus on finishing what they need to instead of giving us a patch for bugs we know they solved :P
Reply #12 Top
its not the bugs, its the integral systems I'm worried about, diplo AI etc.

if we're not getting a patch until the release month, whats the point in getting the patch? IC has been great about letting us in on the development process up until two months ago... this just is confirmation of that.

Unfortunately packaging up a patch and deploying it would take more time than we have to spare right now :S

It is as I posted in another thread regarding a lack of a patch:

"You also need to consider all the aspects of releasing a title that have to be done that we dont get to see as the consumers. Additionally it is not our place to ask for such information either; regardless of whether we think we are entitled to an explanation or not."

aha, there is one place where you're wrong
Additionally it is not our place to ask for such information either

oh yes it is.

we live in a largely free-information industry, secrets are kept for the sole reason of keeping the companies alive. if I pay for a product thats grabbag, that can justify a lack of information, but when I've purchased a product in goodwill that I will have a large hand in the development process...

well its my place to ask for that information.

Contrary to popular belief, buying into a beta test does not entitle you to anything other then access to the game. Additionally perceptions such as "large hand" are not legitimate suppositions to argue from when trying to validate ones position - sad but true.

Goodwill is all fine and dandy as is the willingness to collect consumer input regarding your products but it is all public relations and nothing more from the business's perspective at the end of the day pure and simple.

The vast majority of information related to a product's development is nearly always treated as trade secrets and disseminated in a very controlled fashion and we as the end users simply have zero sway in that process.

aha, but we're speaking on terms of morality, not legality. Yes, buying into the beta gives me the moral right to ask, if not legal entitlement to. this is where your argument hinges: they owe nothing to us they cannot deny, but they owe it anyway.
