Connecting to Secondary Machine

Hello all,
I am aware there have bee problems with logging onto secondary machines using Vista, and i am experiancing one myself.
I am currently using Windows XP Service Pack 2, on my primary computer, and attempting to use my secondary computer, which is a Windows Vista laptop, both are 32 bit.
The funny thing is, i did have it working perfectly earlier, but i i had the error popping up that multipicity was not loading at startup, i had to go into stardock control panel and load it up from there to get it work.
So i unistalled SD, then had to reinstall to unistall multiplicity from within in (i know this may seem stupid, what can i say), and and then reinstalled SD, installing multiplicity from within it, as i had heard this one a way around the startup error.
And whoila, it worked, now multiplicity loads perfectly on startup.
However, i now appear to have lost the connection between the two machines, i have checked that windows firewall on both machines allows access, the problem may well be zonealarm, although i am not sure, given i turned off zonealarm and i still got the same connection problem.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
