One quick question: on the horizontal bars, is it one image that repeats itself or separate elements? If they are separate images, it might be nice to vary them (use different cutout sections). I don't know how sidebars are setup, so if it aint possible, just ignore me!

I like it 'better' and better than the black..but it just seems to be missing something..something little...I thought the gold would do it.

I'm looking...thinking....

OH! Please don't shoot me!~ Gold buttons! Could you use the systemtray or plain start button for the buttons/bars? With black text or some brown set on Color Burn?

On DS we call the horizontal bars Captions ... they are made up using png and jpeg images, Usually
they are all pretty well the same size ..
However DS has the ability to change pics (Captions etc;) on hover /pressed/normal states
....
This allows DS Skinners to 'add' a little movement to the Sidebar , as all the panels can be open/closed when ever you want ... Its a really great little app ,and a LOT more friendlier to use then the Vista one ~ For me anyway .. I would be lost without it now ...

So , Just for you , a mini screeny showing a mouse hover over a panel ... ( look for my santa cursor..) !! As you can see , the hover now shows the Caption Hover Detail ... with me so far ..?

Po' : I am not quite sure exactly what you mean there ,bud ...

... as a matter of fact I have just noticed myself , the Green Captions will be going onto the Emerald Sidebar ... AS IN POST 375 ...

... And what you see ..in post 378 is the Black Dragon clock in the emerald sidebar ..DOHHHHHHHH !!! This is because this evening I am working on the Black Dragon Sidebar , are you with me ... and I have not quite got around to fixing the captions up yet ...

Let me see what wonders I can do for you , ok ?

Right then .. Time flies when you are having fun, as they say ... This is what I have so far ..

This is The Order of the Black Dragon Desktop Sidebar ...Again , as before, a WIP!

I made this up by using the taskbar and startbar pngs and bits and pieces that Po' sent me ..

As you can see, I have incorporated a nice hover effect when you mouse over a Closed Panel ...
I have to admit that the Gold Captions look well with the Dragon Clock , for sure !!!

So ..here ya go ( again ...)

Yup .. that is not a problem , what you have to remember is that the captions have only 4 settings in the DS skin editor ,
OPEN,OPEN HOVER : CLOSED , CLOSED HOVER ... so of course I can do this , However what I would suggest to you is this ...

I can have a go at varying the sidebar captions for each sidebar so that , for example :

EXPERIMENT 1

Emerald Sidebar ... Green and gold captions for the Open panels
Gold Captions for the Closed Panels

Black Dragon ........Gold for the Open Panels( post 380 )
and the wooden taskbar for the Closed Panels

Stump Sidebar ....... would look nice ..I think , with :

Green and Gold Captions for the Open Panels
and the Black and Gold for the Closed Panels ...


OR

EXPERIMENT 2 ... Use all the captions in each sidebar ..

What I am trying to do is make each sidebar as Uniform as possible without it becoming to distracting ... When you have been using DS as long as I have , after a while , even though it is ON your Desktop .. It sorta becomes invisible , if you will ,but its there when you focus on it ...

I hope you understand what I mean ... whatever you are happy with I can hopefully do for you ..This is your baby , So I will try to make you proud !!


BTW I really hope you have seperated all those captions that you have placed in your screeny ...
as I sure could use them ....!!!   

I threw in the black and wood just so you could see them. I think what you did looks better than all gold buttons. I would just use the gold ends on the black buttons.
