DA 1.8e, skip internet availble test doesn't seem to work any more

I think this also happens in TA beta, could be backported code?

Title and subtitle say most of it. I run ZoneAlarm firewall and AV and the game keeps asking the firewall for permission to hit the 'net. (I don't tell ZA to remember the Deny b/c I play Metaverse games.)

Is it when the launcher is up that it asks for permission? I just had a strange experience with the DAlauncher asking ZA for permission

Nope. This happens repeatedly during game play. I don't wear a wage slave bracelet or have a clock nearby, so I'm not sure if the interval is consistent or how long it is.

ahh yea that is something different. It has access on mine so I probably wouldn't notice if it's repeatedly checking.

This is still going on in the current DA and the TA beta. I know it isn't a big deal, but it is annoying to those of use with delusions that we should be able to control when our PCs hit the 'net.

I'd appreciate a Stardock response that either acknowledged that they have a minor problem to fix or that they have decided to make GC2 join the host of code chunks (e.g. Windows Explorer, Windows Search Filter, Desktop Window Manger, etc.) that seem irrationally needy of Internet connectivity.

Yes, I'm being snarky. But I'm a known fanboy, so I don't think it's that rude of me to do so. I guess I should also admit that I'm having to play on a Vista machine and can appreciate the pressures on Stardock to avoid discussing problems with the latest OS and its associated driver set. But I still want honest answers, if anyone can give them.
