need help!!!

HI !
At begining sorry for my bad english.
this is the problem:
I somehow mesedup my display setings the monitor resolution size,
i hawe 15 inch monitor at 1024x768pix and i hawe set the wrong size so insted of the screen i hawe black screen i hawe the sound and that is all.
if i plug bigger monitor with higher rezolution should i be able to fix this?
And if enybody knows how to fix this on systems files or something like that
