WindowBlinds 6.01 released!

WindowBlinds 6.01 released!

Maintainence release but 64-bit XP support added

Stardock has released WindowBlinds 6.01.  WindowBlinds is a program that allows users to completely change their Windows XP or Windows Vista visual experience. It does this by applying system-wide skins called visual styles.

Visual styles can change nearly every element of the Windows GUI from the Start menu, task bar, title bar, push buttons, scrollbars, and nearly everything other part of either Windows XP or Windows Vista.

WindowBlinds works by extending the native drawing routines of the operating system. It does not replace system files or modify data on the user's PC. It has been used by Microsoft, ATI, nVidia, Alienware, and countless other companies to create alternative visual styles to Windows.

WindowBlinds 6.01 is largely a maintainence release fixing reported bugs, tweaking performance, as well as adding support for 64-bit Windows XP (registered version only).

WindowBlinds is a free download and can be registered for $19.95. The registered version adds additional features such as colorization, font control, blur support, and more.  Users can also get the registered version as part of Object Desktop, Stardock's complete suite of desktop enhancement utilities.

Kris, I installed .012 on my Vista Ultimate 64 system and everything was fine. When I installed .014, everything was hosed. Taskbar was windows classic-style. The start button was missing. Magic pink was everywhere on window frames and titlebar. Those things happened via upgrade path and with a freesh install. I guess I should've stayed with .012

OK, I believe I have everything sorted for the evening. It's at .20 now and it's forcing writing some files again on x64's. No code changes. Sorry for the bumps there. I'll keep watching this for a bit, but anything further is liable to be deferred until tomorrow.

The title of this post says "64 bit XP Support added". I have not seen any XP 64 users who were complaining (including me) saying anything. If it works, thank you very much!

Been busy at work. Did not login to SDC in a while. After seeing this post I logged in to SDC but it still says "Includes support for per-pixel alpha-blended skinning on Windows XP (32-bit) and Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit). WDDM drivers are strongly recommended for Windows Vista."

SDC description does not state XP 64 support.

Thanks Again. I have to reboot now

And.. It works!
Why do I have to enter registration information? With 5.x WB I only had to enter that information in SDC.

wb6 is for english based systems only? i doubt that. granted, a lot of skins may not work properly on other language based rigs but that's due to the skin along with its graphics and their settings for english and not other languages, and not wb6. those settings can be changed in skinstudio, i'm sure. also, who is laura?

I believe she means that the WB application is English only at this point.

The Classic skin included with WB 6 is still broken on my German XP in 6.0.1. I've mailed this to support on September 20th. C'mon guys, fix this or tell me how to do it!!

if it is same problem martin then just adjust your all progs background image left\right content magins to move the text and arrow over. Simple.

OK, here's weird one. I'm on Vista Home Premium (32-bit), with an ATI Radeon HD2400 Video Card w/256MB of RAM. The System itself uses an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor. I have 3GB of RAM for the system itself. I use a pair of LCD Screens, one a 19-inch, and the other a 20-inch widescreen.

Anyway, I got WB6.01.20 installed and working -- except for the configuration screen, which is mostly black; it shows barely enough to allow me to shoose skins. WB6 does in fact skin the computer properly, and that's nice, but that's all I can really do with it. I'd really like to know what else WB6 can do, but until I can see the rest of the interface -- kamsa hamnida.

Hey...I'm italian boy...I've just translate WindowBlinds 6.01 in italian language... I hope in the next update there is my translation... I sent it to Stardock...

Anyone else who wants to take a stab at translating the WB interface can take a look in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\lang  You can use notepad to create your own translation (or just 'skin' the one provided )

For reference, the WB5 files are in a sub-folder there.

Send your translations to Stardock, maybe they can use it and hopefully it'll help someone else.

I tried this with SS 6 and did not find a way to change the margins. Should I try SS 5 or will this corrupt a WB 6 skin?
