Very slow Web Site

Opening Web Site & subsequent pages

Am I the only one having problems with the very slow opening of Wincustomze.com and any subsequent pages that I want to download from? It takes a minimum of 1 minute to get onto the Site and can take up to 5 minutes opening any of the pages. This is the only Web Site that I have these problems with.
Any ideas?

Hello John, I too had that same very problem for a long time. I use Internet Explorer and added https://www.wincustomize.com to 'Trusted Sites' in Internet Properties. Don't forget to uncheck 'Require server verification'. The change was instant and the pages all load like the rest of the web now. I don't know the individual culprit within the settings but since I trusted wincustomize, I didn't care.
Good luck,

There are times the site opens very slowly and it doesn't matter which browser you use. I've had it happen when I was at work - T1 line and at home - cable. Had it happen in IE, Firefox, ICab, and Safari. People, it ain't you - it's the site and it comes and goes. That's just the way it is.

ever since i started using seamonkey exclusively for wincustomize my slow load problems
are a thing of the past. With IE and FireFox i used to get lag times between pages of up to 2 minutes, but not with seamonkey. it may be worth a look

good luck

FF - IE and Wincustomize Browser all react the same way for me. Pages only partially load or not at all. This has been ongoing for awhile. I find its worse during the 9 am to 5pm EST period. Thats why I come at the odd hours to do most of my downloading. I have less lag time then. I believe they are aware of these page hang ups.

Hello Mitche323,
Sorry for not replying sooner - I have been very ill. I will try IE (at present using AOL's browser). From the other replies, looks like I might have to 'grin and bear it'!

Hello Zubaz, Chasbo,Nimbin,Fairyy~,

Many thanks for your replies - as I said to Mitche323, I have been very ill, so not had chance to catch up on my Forum.

Using AOL (will try IE). Won't bother with other Browsers as, from your replies, looks like it could be a futile excercise.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Sorry about you not feeling well John, hope all is better soon. AOL uses the same internet settings in Internet Properties that IE does so adding the site to 'Trusted Sites' may still be a good fix for you. Like I said the change for me was instant and impressive so I hope it works for you. Dont forget to UNcheck that box I mentioned - it's checked by default. For AOL you may have to clear your internet options cache also.

Also for everybody, we all know that the site is a heavy graphics site. The buzzword for everyone is Security and many folks have quite a few Security programs going. Well all of these security programs examine every portion of all the web pages you visit - so they are looking at every single pic on the page. You can look through your Security Programs and see if there is anywhere to exempt or not include wincustomize.com in their scans. That is what is happening when a page only partially loads, most often a security program has 'mis-identified' something on the page as suspicious.

Thanks for your last message mitche323. I am gradually getting better. I am abiut to set the Internet Settings as you suggest (also UNchecking the box. Will let you know how I get on.
If it fails, don't worry about offering other suggestions - we could go on 'ad infinitum'. I will live with it.
Again, your help is very much appreciated.

It's the ads!!!
I had the same problem and once I subscribed and was able to browse without the ads, everything sped up. Since there's a charity subscription drive going on right now, you can speed up your browsing and help the kids all at the same time.
I was also having trouble with some pages not loading due to missing or broken ads, that is now fixed.

Not for me - still takes 6-8 minutes to load front page and every other page loads at same pace. I can barely d/load a file for weeks. But I can at any other website.

I pretty much give up at this point.

Since the new servers were installed the speed has been great only usually takes 5-6 sec's to load a page for the most part & it's not like i got super fast bb , by the time it gets states side it'd be 90kb-130kb i usually can download @ around 150kb of data on a 1.5mbps plan, that said i am 12hrs ahead so most of the states is asleep, lazy bums

Most of the time the forums are dreadfully slow for me. Reading a topic and then getting back to the recent posts list takes ages more often than not.

Using FF....sometimes a loading forum page will appear to lock part way and just sit doing nothing for ages. Two days ago I answered the door to some JW's and gave 'em a 20 minute bible lesson as to why I won't be putting my name down at the Kingdom Hall, when I got back the page was still loading.

By the replies, I appear to be the lucky one. Granted, my speed is not what it should be as I have 9 megs down and 6 megs up, but I could definatly tell an improvement without the ads loading.

WC loads fairly fast for me but still the slowest site I visit regularly. Bare Bones IE6.

It's the site design. It's poor. To many adverts, notice they load before anything else. And they're everywhere!! They should do something to make like you able to show 10, 20 or 50 things on a page etc. So clever people can tab browse! But yeah, the way I make the site faster, is by changing the cache in Opera's settings, and thus is remembers more of the site, doesn't always make it faster, but does sometimes, and always does when you have to hit that back button.

Thanks,
Kirk.

If you have a subscriptin to WC you shouldn't be seeing any ads.

Yes, I never have a problem with the web site. But today was really bad.... Very slow to open and one time it could not be acessed.... Thought maybe there was something wrong with the site. Other than WC have no other problems with sites..
