Starting positions

Hi all

First... I'm loving the changes made in Beta 3. Its alot harder to tech yourself out and thus makes for far better gameplay IMO.

But the one thing i was hoping to see was each player (or team atleast) start off in their own solar system, instead of every1 in one system. I can see and understand the agruements against such a thing, but it would be cool to have the option atleast. But thats just me.

Great game tho so far.

There could be 2 systems and one small that connects them together. 2vs2 teams could begin with 2vs2 colony ships in the central system with no planets or asteroids and they have to go to the 2 bigger systems(THEY must chose the nearest planet and system cooperatively.)

Yes, thats one possible map type. Though I don't understand the bit about "2 systems and a small one that connects them together" -- are you talking about something like Fire and Ice, where there is a central "arena", with two lines heading off of it, only having those lines heading off be based out of one side or the others territory?

On the other hand, we've been promised the return of customized random maps -- and adding the controls to handle this situation was, if not promised, then strongly hinted.

Aegun,

There is a great new 4 player map on its way, with each player starting in their own system

oh nice!

what also would be nice: some more maps with more players. whats great about sin's map simplicity is that you guys should be able to create literally dozens of maps with minimal effort! some you could even roughly cut and paste!

so get to work on those 8 and 10 player maps, mkay?

Or release a real map editor, so those of us who are clueless can get to work on it.

You'll get one after we release the Forge Tools.

will the map editor be as awesome and easy to use as the WC3 one? I have yet to see anything to match it.

... Except for anything past map manipulation, you mean?

Actually, the Starcraft one beats WC3's hands down. Especially since triggers are understandable.

Edit: BTW, the only reason I'm saying this is because I was (and I suppose am...) too stupid to go get a tutorial for the more advanced stuff. 'Cause I hated the basic "less units, more micro!" principle to begin with, I'm a bigger hammer -- or rather, army! -- player at heart.
