Im new I came from Moo3 site

As i said i'm new I didnt really like Moo3 at all , I came across Gal Civ which seems excellent, my question is can I expect the same sort of gameplay from GC as Moo3 ?

And Is GC fun to play because Moo3 was a nightmare to say the least in the fun department? if so I'll buy GC

Cheers

Mark ;-)

Mark,
welcome to the Galciv fora :)
I've been a regular over at Moo3 as well, and can easily understand your dissapointments.

Having played both moo3 and galciv I can only say, that once you get a load of this baby, you dont want to ever play a moo3 game again.
It delivers exactly what it promises, a bug free, easy to lear, hard to master, fantastic gaming experience.

Hope to see it helped :)

Wellcome to these boards!

CalCiv IS excellent :) I just finished my first full game today (played for over 6 hours straight) and I had a blast. Won thru a diplomatic victory being allied with the Torians.

The gameplay is different from MOO3, luckily ;) It's more like civilization in space with a great AI and diplomatic system.

The graphics are good. Look at the screenshots on this site. They are representative of what the game actually looks like when you play it.

Except the stars are animated, and other objects on the screen too, the static pictures don't do it justice, IMO.

mborrill, I too was a MOO3 refuge. I must say that GalCiv blows away MOO3 in any and all departments. It is sort of a combonation of Civ and MOO mixed into a big ol' bag of goodness. The support is excellent. After MOO3 I was very upset, they ruined perhaps the best Space 4x game around. Then came GalCiv. Can you say MOO who? Even though it doesn't have multiplayer, the Metaverse system is just as fun, if in a different way. I say get it and love it. Two thumbs up!!!

As yet another MOO3 refugee, let me add my voice of support to GalCiv. It's great, and while it's not perfect, the support from the developers un-freaking-believable.

In regards to playing like MOO3... not really. Think Civ in space, not MOO3.

GalCiv is a lot closer in gameplay to MOO2 than it is to MOO3... But even then, it's not so similar that it's just "more of the same".

But if you're looking for a straight comparison then yes, it's like MOO3. Plays a heck of a lot better, though. :)

If you were looking for MoO2 in MoO3 and didn't find it I wouldn't suggest trying in GalCiv either. The only thing common really is the space theme. GalCiv is mostly Civ in space, with more emphasis on diplomacy then anything else. The only "terrain" improvements are starbases, and combat is just bigger is better. All space is the same really, besides for anomalies(aka goodie huts) so there isn't anything tactical in the combat. You can't hide in a nebula or shield your oncoming fleet in an asteroid field, the only bonuses can come techs/anomalies/starbases. Also, don't take this as an anti-GalCiv post, I was just pointing out what is lacking.
