Coke or Pepsi?

Simple enough question:  Coke or Pepsi (or something other than either of those).

If you have the time to expand a little on your choice and why, I'd be interested in that too.

Sadly for me the answer is mostly neither.  I can't drink the stuff the way I used to (back in my youth I'd go through about 8 - 10 12oz. cans of Coke in a day, which reveals my own personal preference...)  It bothers my stomach badly to injest too much carbonated beverage

I'd go with Pepsi...or specifically a Pepsi product by the name of Mountain Dew.  Why?  Well, it's delicious.

Take the Pepsi challenge - actually I am trying to stop or at least limit my Dr. Peppers.  I drink too many.

Iced Tea for me. Semi sweet, please.

Hmmm, lots of Pepsi fans so far.  If some people don't mind follow-up questions - are you Pepsi fans mostly Northern folks, or are some of you Southerners right in Coke's so-called back yard?

COKE!

When I was in the Philippines they didn't have catalytic converters on their vehicles. Every car exhaust was black smoke...but the big buses were the WORST. Sometimes emitting such a foul stench of chemicals into the air you couldn't breathe or see.

After being exposed to those belching beasts of pollution, a sick chemical taste rested on the back of my tongue until I could scrub it away.

Pepsi is EXACTLY what the exhaust of a 3rd world bus tastes like....EXACTLY.

Yuk.

The North?

In the south everything is "coke." When we go out to eat they say.."What kinda coke ya want?" hahahaha

For me it would be Coke. I can't stand most Pepsi products. The only two exception that (and what makes it MOST instead of ALL) is Mountain Dew (can't stand Coke's Mello Yello) and Dr Pepper (Can't stand Mr. Pibb ... too sweet).

My drink of choice is Mountain Dew, water, Coke or hot tea ... in that order.

Of course, as a programmer/computer geek , if they offered me the opportunity to mainline a caffeine drip, I'd take it.

I am not that far from DC, but am no Redskin (or as we call them Deadskin) fan either!

Like I tell my co-workers, Richmond is not a suburb of DC OR Atlanta.

I dont even know where Pepsi's home office is.

Coke! Always have been and always will be. Coke has that burn thing goin' on and Pepsi is just too sweet.

mmm, sweet, sweet Pepsi. Your taste is like a third world truck's exhaust. I didn't know third world truck's exhaust could be 'too sweet'. Are you sure the exhaust wasn't still on your tastebuds when you drank the Pepsi?

Perhaps the acids in it just loosened up a taste that had been there for a long time.

Why do you assume all the respondents are American? You know, there are people from all around the world on JoeUser. I'm from Australia, just so you know.

I prefer Afri-Cola.
It's german brand and they've been around for quite some time, but lost a lot of market share to the big ones and because they kept changing the recipe.
A couple of years ago, they listened to their fans and switched back to the original old recipe. Was the right decision, it seems - they had a bit of a comeback during the last years.
Aside from the great taste, I like them because they've got 250mg caffeine per liter. Don't know if Afri-Cola is sold outside of germany, but if you've got the chance, you should try it.

When it comes to Coke vs. Pepsi, I always preferred coke. Pepsi is just a bit to sweet for my taste.
So during my first trip to the US, I was quite surprised to discover that the Coke there tastest different to the coke produced for the german market: US coke is sweeter, but contains less carbon dioxic gas. I've been trying coke in every country I visited since, trying to compare. Most of the time, it's hard to tell if there are differences, but between german and US coke, its quite significant. Did anyone make the same experience with coke in different countries?

Ugh! Germans make great beer, but lousy soda.
