Performance in windowed mode

How to improve?

I get really low performance running in windowed mode. Are there any pointers as to what settings could be tweaked to get better performance? In full screen mode, everything works perfectly with all the bells & whistles running at 1600x1050 but in windowed mode it is barely usable.

Well, you should try shutting down everything but GalCiv2 and see if that helps, including anything in the system tray that you don't absolutely need. 

If that doesn't help, it could just be a driver issue.

Thank you for the tip! I turns out that it was either Pidgin or Object Dock that was causing the slowdowns. Pidgin I could just minimize but OD Plus I had to turn off while playing.

But that doesn't matter much as long as I can play.

Ahh, that makes sense.  Either of those apps will cause the GalCiv2 window to constantly refresh, hence the slowdown.

LOL You want my set up then

Mine runs faster in windowed mode! Might have something to do with the multiple monitors i guess even though i turn one off in the settings before play these days.
