Codemaster has announced that Rising Force Online, better known as RF Online has become "completely free-to-play." Users may now download the MMORPG and play with no subscription fee. The decision came about after the rapid expansion of Codemasters' other MMORPG, Archlord which was made free-to-play and download in August. Shortly after Archlord's subscription was dropped the title saw a 700% increase in its player base, and pushed the game to over 1 million downloads. Codemasters hopes that RF Online sees the same increase.
"Moving RF Online to free-to-play game marks yet another milestone for Codemasters Online and the wider industry. We have proven with ArchLord that has been downloaded over 1 million times the potential success that can be experienced and we are pleased to be in a position to re-launch RF Online using a similar model. We invite players from around the world to download the game for free and join us in Novus," commented Ed Relf, Director of Marketing, Codemasters Online.
