Where Do You Go For Wallpapers?

Wallpapers are an often overlooked piece of the user experience, as they're often covered by application windows, folders and icons.  But there's something to be said about finding the wallpaper that perfectly matches your skin and icon set, making for the ultimate theme.

Here at WinCustomize, we have a wallpaper gallery with thousands of wallpapers submitted over the years, some of them are absolutely fantastic too. But we know we're not THE destination on the net for wallpapers, there are dozens of sites out there with a better selection.  This is an issue we're going to be working hard to rectify in the future.

So, what I'm wondering is where do YOU go when you need to find a killer wallpaper?  What are your favorite sites that have the best selection of what you're looking for?  Toss a comment in on your favorite sites, and what your preferred type of wallpaper is (abstract, nature, photo etc).

Where do I go? PhotoShop and PaintShop... creating my own really. There are a ton of wallpapers... as it's really easy to do and anyone can get in on the ground floor creating them.

My favs... obviously are clean. Mostly nature pics, or some that artists have created to go with their themes they've designed.

I get lost really easily so I don't hardly ever leave home. I try to keep things simple, if I got the software here than that's where I look for the skins to use with it. So far I've not been disappointed.

I know I need to get out more, will you be my friend!

If it's not included as part of a WB skin, I almost always roll my own.
Sometimes I'll see one on the monthly desktop screenshot thread that catches my eye.

I go to Devianart mostly. I have to say, I like the way they break down the different categories. It makes it much easier to narrow down my search, along with the keywords. There is a lot of stuff there I don't see here, and don't know would even get past the mods here, but I like a lot of what I see.

I can appreciate the abstract walls (like what you have previewed) but there are just so many and they are so similar (to me) and after hours of messing with Bryce, I am not sure how much of it is just finding the right angle or actual planning.

The 'vlad' style walls are some of my favorites, but after a while, they all seem to have a similar mood or feel.

I make my own the most part but I do believe that if the moderators here were a little less picky about what they allow for download you would have a better selection.

Because WC doesn't help those with 1440x900, I go to http;//www.interfacelift.com

Great Walls.....too bad the folks at WC don't do 1440x900.

Dr J0622 this has been brought up before.   

The thing to remember is that most people make walls that work with or fit their systems needs. I would have to conclude that by the absence of 1440x900 walls is that most peoples systems aren't set up to run at that resolution.

The other thing to remember is when you say the folks at WC, you really are talking about the users of the software here. To my knowledge no WC employees are here to make skins, they may make them and load them but it's only as a user.
