A Few Days Off

With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone,
I am suspending my morning notes for a few days in order to re-charge my batteries, so to speak. I am in the middle of several books and have been in a couple of online blog debates regarding ecology, Gore, and the ideologies of the left and right political spectrum, as well as Darwin, so-called Original sin, and the like. I confess, it is taking its toll on me.
In spite of the science, there are still some who refute the correlations between the conduct of man and environmental challenges such as global warming. In an effort to debate, I have had to do a lot of research in order to establish the veracity of the claims environmentalists claim to be true. I have learned a lot. The dialogue has taken me through all sorts of twists and turns from a short study of Genesis to a review of E. O. Wilson (the biologist) to lengthy reads on CO2, greenhouse gases, and a variety of other areas.
Language, historical context, and the integration of cultures make translation a challenge. Meanings shift, fine lines get crossed and then entrenchment begins to occur, and soon its as if we are on different planets asltogether.
People marshall all sorts of 'evidence' to support their ideological, political, religious or scientific positions. The bottom line is in the process, we all often lose track of the data, that is the raw facts, as we (and others) understand them, and get mired in the sidebars.
It is this muck that is both distressing and tiresome. Sort of like hiking in the mud.
I'll be back in a few days.
Be well.
