Starting Locations / Jump Lanes

In maps where there are multiple stars, 5 for instance and 4 AI players total. How come I have to start in the same system with 3 other AI players every time? That makes no sense. Will there be an option where you can set your starting planet and or starting planets of others?

Also how about jump lane restrictions? I keep seeing my trade ships try and fly through multiple enemy held systems just because it’s the quickest route. Lane restrictions could direct the AI to ignore that lane for automated ships and just fly through friendly space. Thoughts?

I apologize if this has already been addressed.

One AI was placed alone in a system?

If so, then there may well be some bug there. AFAIK the game should be trying to place players such that there are two opposing sides in as many systems as possible. So in this case, there should have been two players in one system and three in another, if you didn't have anyone teamed up.

Options to control player placement have been brought up before, and I wouldn't be surprised if that appears when the custom galaxy option returns.
