Is this an espionage bug?

Please help my spy network!

Soooo...is this a bug, or are my spies REALLY dumb?

Can you give a little context for how you got to that screen cap?

How did you get a Counter Espionage Center but somehow also still have enemy spies placed? Is it the first turn after building the Center--maybe they'll go during next end of turn processing?

I don't understand the dumb spies part of your question, but the cap looks really weird.

If you build the CEC after there are spies on your world, you must still expend spies to nullify them.

Or is it that you can place your own spies on a world that has a CEC on it?

Sorry for lack of details. No, I ALREADY had the CEC on the planet, and then after I hit next turn I got a message that I had all those spies...

The line about dumb spies was a joke, because if I have a CEC and all those spies can still infiltrate my planet, mine must be dumb.

So to clarify, CEC was already built, and now I have spies, 4 to be exact. I can't reload it to an earlier save because I tend to save and overwrite each turn, I suppose I should stop that.

I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if it is a known bug I haven't heard about.

I think it may be because the AI takes it's turn (everything except ships) at the same time you are working on your turn. So before you placed the CEC, an AI got spies qued to go on those tiles.

Either way, it does sound like a bug to me.

Piznit, I hope you kept a copy of the save from which you got the screen cap. Cari might want a look at it, or at least to know whether you're playing the 1.7 beta or the last full release.

I'm also curious about what happened (happens) on the next turn. Did the spies stay until you nullifed them manually, or did the CEC eventually wake up and send them home?

I still have the current game saved after the spies, but not before. And yes they are still there many turns after the CEC.

I have noticed that before. I will see and neutralize a spy, then when I hit the next turn, I will see the announcement that one has been located. Similar to attacking someone and then seeing the declaration of war on the next turn. But if they dropped 4 spies RIGHT before I built the CEC, they got awfully lucky...
